We are not over sensitive, irked a bit, but not quite crying yet.
Sorry, but if our PM did what he did, Americans would consider it rude and pompous, another Limey/Euro bashing America. It is simply rude to arrive in the UK (or any country) and criticise a host and even the British people as he did. Romney wasnt offensive per se, just came across as a touch arrogant and patronising.
And given the debacle of 1996, any American would be well advised to keep Olympic doubts quiet......
If Romney has doubts, he should have kept them to himself. He btw also managed to publicly mention a secret MI6 meeting he had, couldnt remember the name of the Labour leader and used the word backside (which is British for bottom) to describe Downing Street.
Not good form I am afraid. I want Romney to win, but he hs looked like a bumbling novice this week.
Nobody cares about this but the media and leftists looking to burn news cycles to avoid obamas disastrous record.
Agree 100%. Whether posters here care or not about anyone in the UK being offended is kind of beside the point (still a bit rude though ;-)) - Romney just hasn’t handled this flagship visit to the UK very well at all.
It’s a measure of how much his comments have annoyed the Government that the Prime Minister would then go on to publically say something along the lines of Of course it’s easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere.” Time to drop one’s bacon sandwich!
Had to laugh an awful lot though at Ed Millipede’s “Mr Leader” - you know, the guy that may well be UK Prime Minister in a couple of years... :-)
