Comparing the two rows of girls, and considering the list of names would be centered to the pic and guesstimating length of names, including "FIRST ROW" or "BOTTOM ROW" etc., there are at least 13 girls on the first row and at least 12 on the second row. The odd number of girls per row would account for them not being centered (going by half posing left and half posing right) with the two columns of names. Also, there may be a teacher on the left (our left) which throws the left/right poses toward the right of the picture.

We can see there are people standing on the right (our right) that have been cropped so we are missing at least 9 people from that picture.

Something else, could the vests have been earned like lettering in football or other sports? New members might not have earned their sweaters when the pic was taken. Most times you wouldn't get your sweater or jacket until you'd been in an organization a year and it was presented at the end of the year banquet or other ceremonial event. If this were the case, then SAD may not have "forgotten" her vest but just hadn't earned it yet. Could be the newer members were to the outter edges of the group but they've been cropped out.

Remember the movie "Grease" when the coach presented Danny Zuko with his sweater at the end of the year? I didn't get my jackets until the end of the year and the same now with my kids. Hey, just throwing stuff out there since we're working at a disadvantage.

The object of the exercise was to ask freepers what they could see - we followed the Class of 1960 students from grades 7, 8, 9 at the East Seattle School and then Grade ten at Mercer Island by picking out some faces, and then identifying some of them in the so-called 1960 ‘no sweater’ image. Some of the names are now confirmed by the Maraniss image - there were no names available until that appeared -
and the question was, WHERE IS STANLEY ANN DUNHAM?

The mystery is that although she’s shown in a cropped image wearing sweater and pearls, which is presented as a graduation image, there’s nothing on a page anywhere that tells us WHEN she attended Mercer Island High School.

The ‘no sweater’ image appears to suggest that yes, she was there in 1960 if we can believe the names-caption, if we can believe she did qualify to have her photograph taken without her sweater, if we can believe she was the only one who thought it NOT worthwhile to hold the same pose as the the other girls...etc.
