Singapore, in particular, is aiming to be a global financial center, and needs these companies on its side. Singapore lives in the real world, and it is a Chinese island surrounded by Malay Muslims who could destroy it any time. I don't think they will be cowed by a bunch of fairies at Google, and look forward to seeing their response.
