Though, two things that Romney is that Zero is not.

2. A Politician (he will bow to pressure)

2008? I’d say 2004. GWBs second term was a trainwreck. Conservatives were arm twisted into voting for him because the alternative was worse. The battle cry was “We’ll elect him and hold his feet to the fire”. How’d that work out?
The sad truth is that no small government conservative will ever get the nomination as long as GOP elite can torpedo them and give you the false choice of worse and more worse.
I knew in 2008 when Mitt finished second that he’d be the nominee this time. Should mitt lose, I’m not sure who it will be next time except it won’t be Cain, or Santorum. The PTB will probably re-tread Guliani. Then we’ll be told that we have to vote for Rudy because the alternative is so much worse so we should elect him and hold his feet to the fire.
Same thing every election cycle.
I seriously think the GOP leaders would rather lose the election than give up the power they get from big government so the plan of holding feet to the fire and getting a small government conservative next time is futile.
