I once flew from Chicago to Norfolk on the same plane as Jackson. When we got to the terminal there was a huge number of media, in fact so many that I finally got irritated and pushed my way through.

A day or so later, I was driving through one of the largest projects anywhere as near as I could tell. This was in Portsmouth. Anyway while I was driving through that area, there was Jesse and only a handful of protestors.

There were literally thousands of Blacks within a few blocks of his protest and absolutely no one showed up.

I used to dine regularly at Dixie Kitchen in Hyde Park, a southside Chicago restaurant. They had a varied clientle and a lot of black politicians would dine there. I liked the food and always left before noon as it got so crowded.

One day, though, I was there at lunch time and Jesse was sitting at a table of about 8-10 people. I watched as he ignored the conversation happening at the table and instead worked to catch the eye of every person coming or going past his table. This was after his sex habits came to light.

At first I wondered if he were waiting for somebody and I suspected some local pol, but the more I watched him the clearer it became that he was simply desperate for attention. He didn’t get any and to test my theory after paying my bill I walked by, paused for effect, and turned toward him with a big smile and waved, “Hi Reverend”. He about jumped out of his seat to shake my hand.

He’s a despicable man and the sad replacement to a great man Martin Luther King, Jr. King’s death set race relations back a half century. Here we sit still worrying over a person’s skin color as black America loses the content of its character.
