Thanks. I’ll have to try it.

I just got interested in making my laundry detergent. It seems that I’m not the only one doing that either. The Fels-Naptha soap, washing soda, and borax are now stored side by side at our local Walmart. I bought the ingredients yesterday. When I went through the checkout line, the cashier ask if I was making my own detergent. She said she had a friend who was doing that. I read somewhere that it costs about 7 cents per wash load. Ingredients are a lot cheaper at Walmart than at Lehmans. :)

I’ve been planning to try making that detergent, too. I won’t use Fels unfortunately, because they’ve added some nasty perfume to it; if I could get the old Fels I would. I am allergic to all artificial fragrances (asthma) and that is one reason I use Kirks for bathing and washing hair. I figure Kirks would work for the soap in the detergent recipe, or maybe even Dr. Bronners, I have a few gallons of that, and it’s not as good as it used to be anyway.
