Herman Cain to take over Neal Boortz's radio show

Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain will take over conservative radio host Neal Boortz's syndicated talk show next year.

Boortz, a fixture of Southern talk radio, will hand over the mic to the former pizza magnate on Inauguration Day of 2012.

“Neal is my brother from another mother,” Cain said on air, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “Congratulations on the retirement. Congratulations on 42 years in this business.”

Boortz said he was looking forward to retirement but would regret signing off after more than four decades on the air. The show will likely remain based in Atlanta, where Cain also lives; the Republican politician hosted a radio show in the city from 2008 to 2011.

“I’m going to miss everything associated with doing a talk show,” Boortz said.

Cain has hinted strongly that he is interested in resuming his media career since being forced from the presidential race late last year amid allegations of sexual impropriety.

"The doors to radio or TV, those doors are open," Cain told Fox News in December. "I'm considering all of these options because I want to create the biggest platform for me to be talking about the trifecta: replacing the tax code with 9-9-9, energy independence and national security."

IMO, Cain is a FAR better presidential candidate than talk radio host. Take that for what you will.....

I agree. I like Cain but 3 hrs /day every day? Hmmm

Hate to see Boortz go. There were a couple issues he would start ranting about and I would change stations. Social issues.
But politics? He was/is one of the best.

They probably did some test runs to see if he could do a three hour show. Im sure he’ll be fine.

He used to have a show on the same station and has filled in for Boortz many times.

Betcha that Herman Cain isn’t do-your-own-thing about illegal drugs or calls for decriminalization.

Liked Neal but he is a militant libertarian IMO.

Strange how it was so important for women to claim he slept with them years ago when he decides to run for president, but now those women are no longer concerned about it. Another reason I hate the GOP: I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that they had a role in his slandering.

I know who Herman Cain is. Who the He!l is Neal Boortz?
Any why would Cain want to be on a talk show?

As long as there’s an income tax, adding a sales tax and thinking it could stay at 9% is insanity. No future congress or president can be bound to it.

Mr Cain is stuck in marketing mode.

I’ll just pick another talk show.

Number 6 talk show host in the country, with either the longest or second-longest current tenure, if I'm not mistaken. He may have proved the viability of the political talk radio format.
