BREAKING NEWS: TLF Endorses Ken Vaughn in the 11th District Primary
The Last Federalist ^ | May 30, 2012 | TheLastFederalist

Posted on 06/04/2012 8:38:58 AM PDT by iceskater

As many of you know, The Last Federalist had previously endorsed Chris Perkins for Congress. However, after much consideration, the Editorial Board is rescinding that endorsement.....

.... What is even more disconcerting is the lack of a ground game by the Perkins campaign. Whether it is their voter identification program or the lack of signs in the median, the Perkins campaign has been unable to prove that they have the organization and campaign strategy necessary to win in November. The fact that there is a growing concern that Ken Vaughn might actually win on June 12th, shows how weak and inept the Perkins campaign strategy is and how the senior management of their campaign has failed to put a structure together that sufficiently demonstrates his operation has what it takes to succeed. "Team Perkins" has many failings chiefly among them is he has not hired a campaign manager, Chris has decided to give the keys to his campaign over to a corrupt consultant with a track record of running dirty campaigns. See this press report about his previous track record. This consultant named Tyler Harber has not only taken Chris a new comer to the political world to the proverbial woodshed and suckered him for all the money that he is worth they haven't developed a winning strategy. Looking at the FEC reports Prosper Group Tyler’s company and there contractors have been paid $97,850 from the Perkins Campaign. This is and unheard of amount to spend on Consulting in a primary! AND the best part is that’s only through April so since Tyler is averaging 11K a month from this candidate so I can’t wait to see what the next FEC reports show us.

Perkins is a RINO. The primary is the time to take out as many RINOS as possible.

Ken Vaughn is an open borders libertarian. He should and will be defeated. He is running his campaign on a shoestring. He is not a serious candidate.

This was my year to run for this office, because no serious candidates were running, but they redistricted me to the 1st district, which has a solid and unbeatable republican already in office.

(I always wanted to run a no-money quixotic congressional campaign, just for the fun of it, but I’ve always had competitive races or republican incumbents in the way).

You are an idiot. I know Ken Vaughn. He has no chance. He has no organization or money. I bet he will be lucky to get 20% against Perkins. Stop posting this crap about a non-candidate. Are you Ken Vaughn?

You know Ken? Really? Seriously?
Then you should know who I am. And no, I am not Ken.

I shouldn’t have called you an idiot. That was my reaction in the moment. But you are seriously misinformed about this race. Since your profile page says you are from PA, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Perkins’ positions are all over the place. He is pro-choice. His budget proposals lack clarity and substance. On too many issues, he is uninformed and has to ‘get back to you’ and, of course, he never does.

Perkins chickened out on the one scheduled debate. (There were supposed to be 5 debates). For someone who touts his courage in battle, he sure ran away from debating an opponent that supposedly doesn’t have a chance. How is he going to deal with debates with Connelly when HE HASN’T PRACTICED IN REAL DEBATES DURING PRIMARY SEASON? And what does that say about his opinion of his potential constituents when he fails to debate his opponent?

Perkins may have a lot of red-shirted flying monkeys helping him but that doesn’t mean much. I’ve been knocking on doors and I’ve gotten a lot of feedback from actual voters that Perkins is not a likeable candidate. He is not responsive to voter requests for information. People who served with him in the military WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM. Perkins doesn’t even live in the 11th district. Neither he, nor any of his family, can even vote for him. How can he represent the district adequately when he doesn’t even live there?

Perkins’ ‘campaign manager’ is sleezy at best. Follow the links in the article. You are known by the company you keep and Mr. Perkins keeps some questionable company.

You’ve completely misrepresented Ken’s position on immigration. He is open to reviewing immigration quotas, he is most certainly NOT an ‘open borders’ progressive. He is a conservative not a libertarian. And yes, there is a difference.

How many times are endorsements withdrawn? I’m sure this is not the first time in the history of the world, but it sure isn’t a common occurrence. The author’s reasons why they withdrew their endorsement of Perkins and are now fully backing Ken are clearly outlined in the article. Their reasons are exactly what we’ve seen by Perkins and his flying monkeys since Perkins entered the race.

You could be right. Perkins may win. I hope he doesn’t because he’s just another RINO. Our country is in dire circumstances and just another RINO isn’t going to do what it takes to turn things around.

My profile page lists VA as my home state. I am active in GOP politics and the FCRC.

Perkins chickened out on the one scheduled debate. (There were supposed to be 5 debates).

When you are way ahead and not faced with a significant challenger, you don't give any opponent greater visibility than is necessary. Vaughn is a gadfly opponent.

People who served with him in the military WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM.

Perkins has been endorsed by General 'Doug' Brown, USA (Ret), former Commander, United States Special Operations Command; Ambassador Dell Dailey, former United States Ambassador for Counter-Terrorism; Honorable Tom O'Connell, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations; General 'Buck' Kernan, USA (Ret), former Commander, United States Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM); Brigadier General 'Dick' Potter, USA (Ret), formerDeputy Commander, U. S. Army Special Operations Command; Major General 'Bill' Moore, USA ; and and Duncan Hunter Jr.

Perkins doesn’t even live in the 11th district. Neither he, nor any of his family, can even vote for him. How can he represent the district adequately when he doesn’t even live there?

Do you have a source for that assertion?

You’ve completely misrepresented Ken’s position on immigration. He is open to reviewing immigration quotas, he is most certainly NOT an ‘open borders’ progressive. He is a conservative not a libertarian. And yes, there is a difference.

I am very involved in the immigration issue. I have had several discussions with Vaughn on the issue. He is an open borders libertarian. He has no problem with the free flow of labor. And he hasn't a clue on legal immigration.

You could be right. Perkins may win. I hope he doesn’t because he’s just another RINO. Our country is in dire circumstances and just another RINO isn’t going to do what it takes to turn things around.

I live in the 10th District. I am no fan of Perkins, but he clearly has the resources and organization to run against Connolly. Vaughn doesn't. Vaughn has contributed $100,000 of his own money to the campaign or almost two thirds of the total contributions.

Regardless of who is nominated, Connolly will win easily. With the redistricting, the incumbents in the 8th, 10th, and 11th districts are now in stronger positions because their districts have been made even stronger in their favor. Moran, Wolf, and Connolly will win easily this time around. Fimian made a great challenge in 2010, but the 11th district has changed.

Really? Neither candidate has a lot of name recognition. What data do you have that says Perkins is way ahead? Who are you to say Vaughn is the gadfly opponent? The case can be made that Perkins is the gadfly. Perkins, for all his vaunted military experience, is far from a team player. If you're that involved with FCRC, you know Ken has been in the trenches working for lots of R's in NoVa. Perkins shows up, sucks up some oxygen and leaves. There is a lot of dissatisfaction with his behavior.

Perkins doesn’t even live in the 11th district. Neither he, nor any of his family, can even vote for him. How can he represent the district adequately when he doesn’t even live there?

If you are that active in FCRC, you would know this. It's common knowledge. He lives in the 10th.

I prefer to believe that this year more than any year is the time to turn those blue districts red. The dissatisfaction with Zero and all incumbents is wide and deep. You can be as negative about that as you'd like but you don't really help our side by giving up before the votes are counted. I'll give up in November after the voting is over. For now, I fight. You should too.

It is not common knowledge and the more important issue is is it true? Putting out spurious information without any basis in fact is the way the Dems operate.

Give me a break. I am a realist. I have lived in NoVA for over 33 years. The demographics have changed, much of it due to immigration. 28% of Fairfax County is foreign born. Demography is destiny.

I'll give up in November after the voting is over. For now, I fight. You should too. <>I don't need any lectures on fighting. I have done my part in volunteering at the polls and in phone banks. I will be manning the polls on June 12th.

The objective for November is to get around 50% of the vote in NoVA.
