You do not need a faraday cage of any sort for a solar EMP.
The “radio” test fails on dynamic range - an EMP will be much greater in magnitude than can be proven out with a radio in a metal cabinet.
File it under “it might be better than nothing”.
Wouldn’t you say the cage fails if it doesn’t pass the ‘radio’ test? Could you please prove an alternative test.
