As an aside note for future reference, Taussig writes the following on page 301: "Back of this movement, in other words, is the specter of Malthusianism. The danger of pressure from uncontrolled increase of numbers exists in modern societies chiefly for the lowest stratum."
I keep running into Malthusian ideals when I look into eugenics. I generally don't like the topic of eugenics because of how obviously dark it is, but this link between the two concepts is interesting.

It’d be a good way to get rid of Democrats.

Progressives do not want to discuss their own history. I want to discuss their history.
Summary: Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear. - Thomas Jefferson to Peter Carr, August 10, 1787

Of course, Taussig died in 1940. This is sort of dated material. Today the ones with sharp knives are mostly environmentalists.

You must all know half a dozen people at least who are no use in this world, who are more trouble than they are worth. Just put them there and say Sir, or Madam, now will you be kind enough to justify your existence? If you cant justify your existence, if youre not pulling your weight in the social boat, if youre not producing as much as you consume or perhaps a little more, then, clearly, we cannot use the organizations of our society for the purpose of keeping you alive, because your life does not benefit us and it cant be of very much use to yourself.

For the past few years there have been somewhat hushed reports of Hillary attending various “summits” and conferences on world population. I have always wondered what sorts of ideas they’re coming up with.
Their problem though, seems to be the fact that their political support comes from the unproductive, and not the productive, so they’re probably still trying to come up with an approach to reducing the world’s population. I’m sure Obamacare is one of the cornerstones though, as that will help them eliminate the “drag” on the economy caused by retired folks.
