The mom was sure beaming in the audience
I like how they start out nervous but you can see the confidence build as the audience is all smiling at them
He’s a great guy and HUGE talent, Neil Sedaka
His “Laughter in the Rain” was a interesting comeback 15 yrs past his last hit, Elton John’s record company was the only one who where interested in it as I understand... and what a smash that turned out to be, I think it went #1

Good stuff, Donna- much obliged!

Yup, Sedaka also had a #1 (again with EJ's help) on "Bad Blood", and other hits Solitaire, Breaking Up is Hard to Do (slow version), The Immigrant, and some duet he did with his daughter. Paul Anka launched a similar comeback around the same time.

Now that was entertaining. My favorite rendition of his hit "Calendar Girl" is Petula Clark's
cover version.

I like Huckabee so much better when he sticks to the role of being a latter-day Merv Griffin.

My favorite song by Sedaka is
Stairway to Heaven. Seems there's another song with that title that gets a lot of airplay on the rock stations, but it isn't half as good.

“Breaking Up” is the perfect example of a tune that is so well-crafted it can be done both as a bubble gum tune and as a tremendous pop ballad. BTW, my band did a cover of “Laughter” on our last CD - great fun, especially because nobody does that tune live anymore.

I’ve listened to Neil Sedaka for years. He has a pleasant unstrained voice and seems to truly enjoy what he’s doing. Talent has longevity.

And let's not forget the #1 of the year hit that he wrote and gave to the Captain and Tennille, "Love Will Keep Us Together".Talk about a well-crafted piece of pop music. I also had heard he translated the lyrics of Waterloo for ABBA.

The lyrics to that song the kids were singing could apply to Huckabee when he started putting weight back on after the 2008 election.
