If we were smart, we would be lowering business taxes and startup costs and encourage rich people to move here and bring their businesses along.

If we can keep energy prices low using natural gas for electricity generation, we can insource their IT and datacenters, and chemical plants easily.

Same with Japan, by the way. Their factories need electricity, and they just shut down every one of their nuclear reactors.

Or we can totally blow the opportunity.

Some years ago I read of an immigrant who observed that America was the best place to run a business, but the worst place to raise a family.

Looks like we’re in the running for both these days. This will create a kind of negative feedback loop, as moron politicians tighten the screws and capital flight accelerates even more. As taxes continue to rise, regulations increase, yet tax receipts decline, there will be more calls for punitive measures against the “rich”, who by now have left the country if at all possible. Rinse, lather, repeat.
