Where Do Conservatives Go Now?
http://www.conservativehq.com ^ | 4-18-12 | Richard A. Viguerie

Today, Parts 1, 2 & 3.

Now that moderate former Massachusetts Governor Mitt is the presumptive Republican nominee for President, many conservatives are asking “What should I do now that it looks like Republicans will not nominate a conservative candidate for President?”

First, don’t be Mitt Romney’s cheap date.

The grassroots movement conservative voters who powered the Santorum campaign can not be taken for granted. During the 2006 congressional elections some 4 million conservative voters stayed home, producing one of the greatest defeats for the Republican Party in the modern era.

Some conservatives were quick to endorse Mitt Romney now that the nomination looks settled. They got it exactly backwards – conservatives should not be rushing to embrace Romney; Romney should be rushing to embrace conservatives.

No one wants to stay home during this important election cycle, however, Mitt Romney has given little evidence he wants, and is willing to work for, conservative support.

If Mitt Romney wants the support of grassroots conservatives and Tea Partiers, the next six moves are up to him.

So far there’s no new sign that a Romney administration will result in the kind of fiscally sound, constitutionally conservative government that conservatives saw coming from the other candidates in the race.

Second, redouble conservative efforts to takeover the Republican Party.

Time after time during the Republican primary election cycle grassroots conservatives and Tea Partiers saw establishment Republican Party officials put their thumb on the scale to tip the balance in Mitt Romney’s favor.

To prevent this from happening again, and to build a Republican Party leadership that truly represents its conservative base, Tea Partiers and grassroots conservative activists must redouble their efforts to takeover the Republican Party.

This means running for positions in the Republican Party organization – starting with precinct committeeman or woman – and getting involved in the local Republican Party organization.

Not voting for liberal Romney does NOT add one vote to Obama. Not one.

After 2008, conservatives said "Never again!"

But here are people accepting the RNC's liberal pick and voting out of desperation.

I said "Never again!". And I meant it. Conservatives have a credibility issue. They claim they will not allow the liberal RNC to dictate to them and then they fall in line AGAIN and do as they're told. I WILL NOT!

You have no idea what the consequence of anyone’s vote is going to be in November.. So keep your opinions to yourself.
You have control over one vote: your own.

I am at least capable of making an informed, intelligent choice. Can you say the same? How does that kool-aid taste?

Mitt Romney thanks you for gulping it down so nicely without causing any problems!

We pretty much fell in line in 2008.....now it’s time for the GOP-E to experience the pain of knowing that conservatives will no longer follow them.

Yes. And I don't think it makes any difference to the election. The RNC, again, picked a VERY weak candidate. Bam's fraud will take Romney down no matter what we do.

Did you see this?

Agreed!

We fell in line to a hopeful future called Sarah Palin. We also witnessed the destruction of Sarah Palin by the McCain, Romney, Obama, MSM cabal right before our eyes.

We are now expected to forget what we witnessed and turn the other cheek to save the nation because it is the right thing to do for our future?

The right thing to do is to fight those who hurt our chances by destroying them at the polls!

As I've mentioned; I was first a diehard Palin supporter, by when she decided not to run, I put my energy and hope behind Cain, when Cain decided to drop out, I got firmly behind Newt (and to a lesser degree Santorum). As this primary has worked it's way through, a majority of primary voters have supported Romney in larger numbers than the other candidates. Yes, I understand these wins aren't bringing out record turnouts, but Romney has garnered more votes than the other candidates.

Myself and others have said this until we're blue in the face, but I'll attempt one more time. In three short years Obama has destroyed the economy, raised unemployment rates, increased energy costs, killed the space program, and set race relations back 40+ years. If he wins a second term, and anohter four more years as Thug-in-chief, what do you think the results will be? Let me help you: WE WILL BE UTTERLY DESTROYED! Do you seriously think 2016 will matter a hill of beans if this Marxist wins a second term? Hell no...we're finished! Am I afraid of this prospect? Hell yes!

We know what a second term of Obama will bring about...utter destruction of our country and way of life. This America hating, Marxist has it as his final solution to destroy our nation as founded. He's said as much! While far from perfect, those of us who've decided to vote for Romney, should he win the primary, see him as a much better alternative to Obama. As it appears now, this election will be between Obama and Romney. There is NO WAY IN HELL, I'm going to not vote, vote 3rd party, or do a write in. Think whatever you want, but any of these three actions will benefit Obama. I will not be a party to helping to elect this America hating thug! whatever romney is, at least he doesn't hate America and has as his mission, desire to transform it from it's founding!

One last point; I find it a bit discus ting to watch several FReepers (not necessarily this thread) trash Romney as the nominee, when many of these folks joined with Politico and other Left-leaning rags in trashing our early GOP contenders. How times did i hear Freepers trashing Bachman or Santorum saying: “Yep, they're just not ready for prime time!” It was shameful watching FReepers gladly join along with Politico and the many bogus allegations about Cains “affairs.” And now many of these folks express outrage that we're stuck with Romney? Sorry, but these folks who helped pile onto our candidates hold at least some responsibility for where we are today.

We find it totally disgusting that you would turn tail and vote for one of those that helped destroy our first pick!

Save your hot air for the fools at foxnews.com or cnn.com!

Not turning tail; I simply refuse to allow the Kenyan four more years to complete his destruction of our nation. Perhaps you should contact all of the voters around the nation who opted to vote for Romney, and give them a piece of your mind.

At this point I’m surveying the 3rd party candidates as an independent. I left the Repug party after they nominated McAhole last time, and they have now stayed true to form and nominated yet another slimy lib. I could care less who the R VP is at this point, since a VP has no power or influence over anything that matters - especially if they’re not of like mind with a lib Prez. My vote will go to the most fiscally conservative candidate, which I can guarantee won’t have a D or R next to their name. No it’s NOT voting for Obamao, it’s voting for who I vote for, and on principle rather than as a rah-rah mindless party lemming that does what they’re told by their rich elitist masters.

I don’t agree with either guy Obama or Romney. I aim to vote against both. A protest vote.

It is naive to think that conservatives will take the House or Senate when 0bama wins when the ABO vote is split between Romney and some nobody.

FReepers were screaming for Santorum to drop out because he was splitting the ABRomney vote.

IT IS THE EXACT SAME SITUATION NOW.

A vote for ABRomney is a vote for 0bama. Period.

It is simple math. It really is.

I’m simply stating a fact. A majority of GOP primary voters cast their votes for Romney. I had really hoped that Gingrich would’ve picked up steam. His ideas on energy, foreign policy, the nations courts, and his ability to dominate debates would’ve been a pure delight to behold.

There was funny business going on and Florida is a good example. The link I posted to you is a FReepers first hand account of more funny business.

Let me put it this way.

I am a Conservative, and a Christian.

I cannot vote for anyone who supports abortion.

I cannot vote for anyone who has proposed or approved a health care mandate which requires me to pay for other people's abortions.

I cannot vote for either of the 'front runners'.

If the question is one of betraying God over some political snotfaces, forget it.

So I'm voting for God, and neither Obama nor Romney.

They did this, they put their god (the state) in conflict with Jesus.

My choice is clear. Neither of them will get my vote.

The GOPE have crafted this outcome because they are moving Left and must attract the Left to advance that ball. This naturally requires some useful idiots thrown into the mix also. These GOPE will pass every Marxist-socialist inclination Romney launches, because they own him and want to see him succeed, where as, Obama in a second term would be fought tooth and nail by these same players, for pushing the same or similar crap.

How do I know this?

The GOPE are seen excusing and polishing the Myth record in MA, the template for the worst of the Marxist policies now destroying the country under Obama, which the illustrious Establishment now feign to deplore.

This is where the useful idiots come in, those who will believe Romney is an alternative to Obama the Terrible, or will bring “peace and safety”. You appear to be a qualifier. Or just another Lefty?

Either way, I wouldn’t hang your head out the window here on FR.
(You’ll get bugs in your teeth, at your high rate of speed.)
