I move in next month. It's one of those really nice neighborhoods in an otherwise hood-rat area. The house was on the market for two years and a vacant house in Memphis gets gutted in no time for the copper, air conditioner, appliances, etc..... They took everything twice and then some more until the insurance copmany refused to cover the seller anymore. I bought it. I put in a gunnite pool, irrigation system, landscaping, hardwood floors, and new fixtures. The central air compressor goes in the day before we move in. All the other appliances go in then as well.
Once I'm living there, let em come. I've got the whole place wired with cameras and silent alarm connected recorders.
Lonely are the brave. Good luck. I mean it.
Homesteading a nice place in a dangerous area is pioneering. Sometimes you are the vanguard of a neighborhood renaissance; sometimes you are an outpost against the hordes.
