Arizona's contentious illegal immigration law is now toiling in the Supreme Court. And, naturally, Obama's beloved Justice Sonia Sotomayor dissents, but that's no surprise, considering she doesn't understand the fundamentals of federal constitutional authority. But she's a minority (and, purportedly, "disabled"), so that means her one vote counts for two -- especially because she's a Hispanic minority.
If Sotomayor had it her way, all 50 states would be merged into one super-state, where the only existing government would be the federal government. But she's not the only one.
Chuck Schumer's panties are balling up as well. So he's proposing to do away with the Judicial Branch -- in pertaining to the immigration issue, that is -- because he doesn't agree with its presumptive ruling on the Arizona law.
Because the federal government is more efficient and harbors less bureaucracy, I presume. And because the states' rights debacle is so 19th century -- just like freedom and weak central authority are so 18th century.Anticipating an unfavorable ruling, Sen. Charles E. Schumer, a New York Democrat who is a critic of the Arizona law, said Tuesday that if the court does uphold the states law, he will introduce legislation to overturn that decision and grant the federal government sole control on immigration matters.
That would be an interesting can of worms to open up.
You’re reading your sources wrong. Sotomayor didn’t criticize the Arizona law— she criticized the Obama administration lawyer for attacking the Arizona law.
I’m sure he’ll try.
He’ll have to wait for the ruling first. To legislatively overturn the Court, he’ll need to know why they ruled how they ruled.
Mostly just liberal gum-flapping. Political posturing to Hispanics in an election year. Nothing will come of it. Probably won’t get the votes.

Chuck is in for a surprise. Even his fellow Democrat senators know the majority of the American people come down on the side of Arizona, and in an election year? HA!
That would be an interesting can of worms to open up.
That dumbass won’t be overturning anything.
The Court’s questioning made it sound like giving the feds full enforcement authority may not overturn the Arizona law.
Even Sotomayor’s questions made it sound like Arizona checking immigration status and reporting to the Feds wasn’t “enforcing”. Reporting to the Feds is not “enforcement” — even if the Feds don’t want to know what you’re reporting.

As I recall, Schumer doesn’t recognise The Supreme Court as a branch of government. Didn’t he say not too long ago that the three branches were the executive, the house, and the senate?
Stop. Please, stop.
“And, naturally, Obama’s beloved Justice Sonia Sotomayor dissents”
What? A dissent has not been published yet and probably won’t be published for three to six months. And that’s if she does dissent and it’s not looking like she does. In this case she seems to be lining up with the conservatives who don’t see why there’s any problem with Arizona authorities ‘checking’ with Federal authorities about the immigration status of arrestees.
She told the Obaminion that he was doing a poor job ‘selling’ his case and that maybe he’d best try something else. To me it’s pretty clear she is not supporting the Dhimmocrats on this one.
He can’t propose a law that grants the Federal government such power. It would take an Amendment to the Constitution.
So, who is the dictator here, that can unilaterally impose of overturn law?
It’s not like this can happen without the House voting...
Obama and the Left have nothing but contempt for the Constitution and they think they can just rule by edict. Schumer is the same. To us the Const. is our guide to the government we desire. To the Democrats it is an impediment to the hell on earth they want to impose.
If I was a legal immigrant all this free stuff would gobsmack me
Chuckie must think he is God.
His POS law will have to get thru the house.
I doubt it will. But one never knows with Bonehead and Cantor.
Without the illegal and felon vote, there is no DNC.
Schmucky Schumer needs to be term-limited. Bodily.
Arizonans never voted for this Nazi bastard. Who the hell is he to tell us how we should run our state. He needs to worry about that sewer he represents and leave the rest of us alone. I hate Nazis.
