I never heard about that! Too bad my mom was too young at the time to remember it or I’d ask her about it. (She would turn two in three days.) We are life-long Michiganders. Perhaps it was you who posted the article that suggested that the great Chicago fire, the Peshtigo fire, and the other fires that broke out simultaneously in1871 were I fact caused by meteorite strikes? My husband and I lived in Menominee, MI for four years. It’s just up the road from Peshtigo. That fire is pretty important history to that area.
I probably have posted that (Chicago and Peshtigo fires caused by space debris), now that you mention it. I think the author of a book about it was from Michigan.
I wish I’d asked the remaining relatives old enough to remember that year about this, but (alas) I never got around to it.
