I just hope that it’s not the quality of people that they are hiring these days. I’ve always believed, perhaps naively, that we could always count on the FBI, CIA, Secret Service, U.S. Marshals, etc.

Mid level management has been decimated by not having to tools and backing of leadership to weed out slackers and those that don't have the cojones to do the RIGHT thing. I left federal service after what I saw. It's actually worse than what I describe.

I fly to California once a year over Christmas from Knoxville, TN to visit with relatives and take a cooler with me filled with beef tenderloins and, this last year, tenderloins and lobster tails. TSA thugs stole a couple of freeze packs in 2010 and followed up in 2011 by stealing about $80 worth of tenderloins and lobster tails. Because of that kind of crap I will not fly when I can drive and will NEVER put firearms in any checked baggage. The hideous example from the top has made the whole Federal government a tyrannical, lawless horror.
