Many people know Presidential Mitt Romney as a Republican candidate running for President who likes to complain about President Obama. Many do not see him as a former Mormon Bishop in charge of thousands of Mormon congregants. An investigation based on interviews suggest Romney was pretty radical in his Mormon beliefs. According to a Huffington news report - as a young bishop, Romney got word that Carroll Shelton, a woman in his ward, was considering an abortion. This was Shelton's sixth pregnancy. She was in her 40s, had four teenage children and had developed medical complications. As the story goes Sheltons stake president had already approved the procedure when Bishop Romney arrived at the hospital and forcefully counseled her against it (see: Mitt Romney Was A Mormon Bishop Before He Became A Politician. Some say demanded it using the full force of his position as Bishop within the LDS church. Peggie Hayes, a single woman with a child, was in Romney's ward when she became pregnant. She alleges that Romney threatened her with excommunication if she didn't put up the baby for adoption, Boston Globe reporters Michael Kranish and Scott Helman write in their book "The Real Romney." GIVE UP YOUR MORMON GOD "Give up your son,"was the message Hayes said she got from Romney, "or give up your God." That is a heavy trip to lay on someone says Pattie Cooper of Charlotte, N.C. I worry about what he will do when he is President and the Mormons get into the White House
will he do stuff like that?, she said. Continue reading on Examiner.com Romney, as Mormon Bishop threatens woman "give up your baby or give up your God"

I would vote for a ham sandwiche over Obama—ABO
And they've got a treasure-trove of those reports right here on FreeRepublic.
I'll never vote for the guy, but the Mormon bashing that goes on here is beyond the pale.
He is extreme and weird.
You can STILL hear that. Margaret Sanger lives in a lot of people’s hearts. Everyone (quite properly) spotted ObamaCare’s war on the elderly. I smell a similar hidden agenda in Bishop Willard’s career. Hat tip to Glenn Beck, who gave the game away when he said that Willard was -personally- a good man, as he had worked so hard to discourage abortion -within- his church. That set me to thinking about how such a paradox could be resolved.
So would I.
I am considering writing in ‘empty orange juice can’ in November, in tribute to Mark Levin.
Particpating in an abortion, as a Catholic, is forgivable in confession. However, I would imagine the penance would be considerable.
When I was young, which is when Romney was young, church girls in our denomination were regularly advised to give the child up for adoption. They’d go away for a few months, and then come back and carry on with school as if nothing had happened. It was the times.
Now even church girls have the baby and raise it with the blessings of church and family, but thats now. That wasn’t then.
I don’t like Romney but if you go back a few decades most “good girls” were being advised the same thing in the same situation. This is sad personal history for all concerned but I’ve got much bigger reasons to dislike Romney, and bigger reasons yet to dislike O.
Go Newt!
“Some have repeatedly stated their preference for 4 more years of OCommunist if their alternative is Romney. For those, RDS has no limits.”
After reading a number of recent posts on Free Republic, I am disheartened to observe that what you are saying seems to be astonishingly true.
No wonder the Socialist-in-Chief seems so confident that he will be re-elected with support like that.
So, you guys really want Obama another 4 years? Umm humm, smart, very smart. /s/
Got the names of those other six wives? Or are you just throwing slander around? (Not a Romney supporter, before you go getting all crazy).
Not a Romney supporter, but this poorly-written mess of an excerpt (not going to the virus-zaminer blog) actually makes Romney look better.
Was that your point? To make Romney look better?
Why did you direct this post to me? Did I make any statement about ex communication that was wrong? Did I even say ANYTHING about ex communication?
No I didn’t.
Why do you need their names for? They are all dead by now.
Mitt himself is 65.
You have your head where the sun don’t shine!
To start with a Mormon Bishop in in charge of about 350 to 400 ward members, not Thousands. A Mormon Bishop cannot just order somebody ex-communicated. All the Bishop can do is request a Bishops court after extensive meetings and talks with the Stake leaders, where there is a review of the facts.
If he was trying to talk somebody out of another baby(Think Octo Mom) is because in most of those cases the Ward has to pay for everything(Food, Rent, Medical, transportation etc.) This money does not come from Salt Lake, it is the burden of the local members.
Would you want to pay for that kind of recreational behavior?
I prefer Virgil Goode...
