In FL, the way the law is written, a person using deadly force under the SYG statute is presumed to have acted lawfully unless otherwise proven ...

A majority of witnesses at least tangentially back up Zimmerman's claim, while a few claim otherwise. At the least, it appears to be somewhat of a draw.

Therefore, the DA may not pursue the case ...

OTOH, the Justice Department might pursue a civil rights case under the hate crimes statute. However, their position might be tenuous at best.

Again, under the hate crimes statute, the government would have to prove racial bias and intent by Zimmerman - a hard row to hoe ...

What I expect in the end is that FL will NOT charge. BUT, the Justice Department WILL - with no real private expectations of winning. That way the DOJ can come out smelling like a rose to the Left - while blaming the justice system for its loss in court ...

IIRC, they left the armed Koreans and their shops alone.

They certainly did.

Well said. The evil bastard is certainly in trouble and he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t in many situations.

We already knew the Police were not going to charge him. Apparently the African American temporary replacement chief won’t either. Good for him.

However the case is supposed to be taken to a Grand Jury, next week IIRC. But I expect the Grand Jury will return a No Bill, which means they will have cleared Zimmerman of wrongdoing. Or at least that’s what would happen in Texas. A guy (black) in Dallas shot some kids (also black) who where stealing his “rims”. No Bill. A guy shot a burglar in/near Houston, who was making off with his neighbor’s goods, in spite of the Police dispatcher telling him not to go outside, where the shooing was witnessed by a plainclothes policeman. No Bill, but the race pimps did show up, and left when they found the dead bad guy was an illegal immigrant from South of The Border, way south.

Isn’t a grand jury now looking into this case? If yes, then they will make the decision as to whether or not to charge indict Zimmerman.

This past Wednesday (April 4) I was in a grocery store checkout line and suddenly about 4-5 goons, thugs, whatever you want to call them appeared in the line behind me. One of them spotted on a nearby magazine rack the Newsweek magazine with the title “An American Tragedy” and Trayvon Martin’s picture (as a young boy) on the cover, flicked the magazine, and muttered something about getting “a T-shirt.” They they started crowding — all of them, I don’t know which one of them was actually in line to purchase something — up to me awfully close, and one of them started trying to peek at my debit card as I took it out and used it to make payment. I put space between myself and them as soon as the cashier handed me my bags and got out of there. They didn’t follow me out but were sort of muttering and looking around.

They reminded me of the thugs I saw wandering loose and looking hostile the weekend before the healthcare bill vote in March 2010. They were in the neighborhood as a pack, looking very mean, muttering, and coming up to people as if to chase them off, coming just close enough to make people look nervous and walk a little faster. The sight was horrible to behold.

Really, if you examine the facts, Martin is actually guilty of a hate crime while Zimmerman protected himself from his skull being splattered on the concrete. That’s what makes this situation so ironic, besides Al Sharpton profiting from it.

The guy in Pasadena who was robbed was an Illegal Alien, but not a White Hispanic, more like a Brown Hispanic.
He called 911 saying the kid was armed, not that he or the Police knew it was a kid at the time.

The coverage of the story never mentions that the kid who was shot and killed DID rob the guy in the first place.
