That reminds me of the AT&T wireless phone/answering machine I had several years ago.
Every stinking electrolytic capacitor in it failed at about the same time, all made in China.
Threw the whole mess away, just wasn't worth my time to repair.

IIRC, the story about that happening to MOBOs was that an employee from the PRC of a component company not in the PRC stole the formulation, and went back to the PRC.
They [PRC people] apparently did not follow the recipe, and/or didn't employ the same QC methods on input and output of the manufacture.

I have a Hitachi 53” Big Screen TV, that died twice and I only found out about the crappy Chinese caps after the warranty ran out. Best Buy and Hitachi have washed their hands of it. TO fix it properly will cost my over $700 in parts and labor, so I am dusting off my old electronic skill to see if I can fix it otherwise trash time. A $3500 TV dead because of the crap made in china.
