Republican Party of Texas Passes Resolution WARNING Mitt Romney
Texas Conservative Republican News ^ | 4/3/12 | David Bellow

Posted on 04/03/2012 9:45:22 PM PDT by davidbellow

The State Republican Executive Committee of the Republican Party of Texas met for a quarterly meeting on Saturday March 31st, 2012 in Austin, TX.

Several things of importance happened at the meeting, but this article will only cover the resolutions that were passed by the SREC. I will post other articles regarding the other things that happened at the meeting.
There were five resolutions passed at this meeting.

The most pressing and striking resolution that passed was a resolution warning Mitt Romney to go to the Texas Presidential Debate that the Texas GOP is putting together before the Texas Primary on May 29th, 2012. Gingrich, Santorum and Paul have accepted the invitation to this nationally televised Texas Presidential Debate. Romney has not accepted.

We basically told Romney that if he does not go to the debate then we will take it to mean that he does not care about out large Republican state and therefore he should not get any of our delegates.

That is a strong warning from the largest Republican State Party in America! Don't Mess with Texas Mitt Romney!

Texas has 155 delegates and if we give our delegates to another candidate then that might be plenty enough to keep Romney from securing the nomination and force a brokered convention.

Another resolution of note was a resolution in support of Tom Delay. The liberal District Attorney shopped 3 Grand Juries in order to find one in the liberal Travis County that would indict Congressman Tom Delay for something that was not even against Texas law and no one has ever
been charged in Texas for the same thing.

The other two resolutions had to do with Abortion. One was a resolution regarding preventing fraud against Texas taxpayers. It encouraged the Texas Legislature to pass a broad wistleblower law similar to the Federal False Claims Act that would apply to allegations of fraud against any state agency or program. The other abortion resolution was a resolution regarding criminal liability for abortion providers. This resolution encourages the Texas Legislature to enact legislation which provides for criminal penalties against abortionists found guilty of negligence in performing the abortion and/or wrongful death of the mother.
There was also one other resolution that was passed thanking Texas GOP chairman Steve Munisteri for the work he has done for the party these last two years.

This is all fine and well. But the real question for the Texas GOP is: why does it continue to allow its primary to be completely irrelevant by having it so late in the process?

Imagine for a moment if Texas had had its primary, say, the same week as Florida. I’d bet a lot of money that Newt would’ve won it, completely changing the course of the nomination process. No Big Mo for Myth. No narrative of his invincibility. Very possibly no subsequent Santorum surge - though admittedly that’s a bit more speculative.

Yes, I know, that would’ve resulted in Texas losing half its delegates. That didn’t keep Florida from being very consequential, did it? And besides, what’s to lose if the alternative is to have the thing decided before it gets to Texas?

Why the Texas GOP allows this travesty is beyond me.

Hank

I think they need to totally rearrange the primary process, put the more liberal states at the back

Then they wouldn't be the stupid party, now would they?

It wouldn't hurt for them to stop letting their political enemies select their candidate in "open" primaries either, but then they wouldn't be the...

It was supposed to be on Super Tuesday. It was delayed due to the Obama "Justice Department" lawsuit against Texas over the 2012 redistricting.

Fine, but there’ve already been some states where the rules said the delegates awarded are supposed to be proportionate, but the Repub establishment has, so far, ignored that.

And why is the media continually reporting that Romney has all these delegates, yet many of them aren’t “committed” or locked in???

Good question. I’ve also wondered why the GOP gets so worked up about the results of primaries in states they are likely to not win in the general election to begin with; ie, Iowa and New Hampshire. Two mostly blue states who only on occassion flip GOP and barely at that. Most of Romney’s “wins” are probably in states like this. It is national suicide at the most inoportune time.

Deny Romney 355 delegates between now and Utah and he does not win the nomination outright.

The Democrats are unified and the Republicans are acting like a bunch of high school girls arguing over who wears which dress to the prom.

I’ve gotten to where I don’t care who is the next president - as long as it is not Obama. From what I read here I gather that most people would want Obama again if the Republican nominee is Romney. Fine. Screw our nation to satisfy one’s ego and call it ethical.

Maybe the Republicans are as stupid as the Democrats claim.

A little thing called the Voting Rights Act of 1965 which ultimately put Texas among nine states and other juridistions that must get Federal approval of redistricting after each census. This process wasn’t completed in time for the earlier scheduled Super Tuesday primary and was finally completed to allow for now scheduled May date.

......
HB 318 was filed on 18 November 2010. This bill would move the General Primary and the Presidential Primary from the first Tuesday in March to the first Tuesday in February. The runoff primary would move from the second Tuesday in April to the second Tuesday in March. [Sections 41.007(a), (b), and (c).].

On 17 June 2011, Texas Governor Rick Perry (Republican) signed SB 100. The bill changes the partisan runoff from the 2nd Tuesday in April to the 4th Tuesday in May to allow time for overseas ballots to be returned. The date of the General and Presidential primaries, the 1st Tuesday in March, is not changed.

16 December 2011: A 3 judge U.S. District Court panel in San Antonio signed into effect an agreement between the Texas Democratic Party and the Republican Party of Texas setting the 2012 General Primary Election for Tuesday 3 April 2012, the County and Senatorial District Conventions for either 14 April or 21 April, and the Runoff Election for 5 June.

15 February 2012: The San Antonio three-judge panel has indicated that the April unified primary election will be postponed and that the new primary date is likely to be 29 May 2012. The new district maps need to be in place sometime between early and mid-March in order to maintain the 29 May 2012 primary date....

1 March 2012: The San Antonio three-judge panel has ordered the state’s primaries to be moved from 25 April to 29 May 2012.

Republican Candidates could improve their Primary vote count by campaigning with the following idea:

Due to the FHA, Fannie and Freddie Bankruptcies of September, 2008, American home owners lost 30 % of the value of their homes. That is a 30 % cut in just one month. Home values are still down 30 %.

Thus, let us cut the total compensation to all elected Federal politicians, and their staffs by 30 %, and an additional 10 % cut to elected Federal politicians each year until Federal Spending is LESS THAN the average of the previous 2 years of Federal income.

BTW, since slightly less than half of the US House, and 2/3 of the US Senate are Millionaires, it will be a great opportunity for Congress to lead by example that EVERYONE should give up their “fair” share of the American Dream.

What better way can there be to demonstrate that Federal politicians are on the same page as the voters?

Good for RP of Texas! I'm sure Rombama's cadre in Houston is not happy about this!

I somehow got on their email list...my first response was to unsubscribe with an ugly comment...but, I've now decided to keep reading what their "tactics" in Texas are.

I DO wish Newt would make some visits to Texas, though. Lot's of delegates at stake in the Lone Star state!
