Nonsense. We don't know how close they were.
If I'm six feet from someone, he pulls a gun and I think he is about to fire, damn straight I'd charge him. I would think that, poor as it is, it's my only chance.
I have no idea if that's what happened, but this analysis, at least in this respect, is not logical. IMO.
Then you'd be 100% dead. In 94% of the cases where people ran away, the perp either missed or never fired their weapon. Running away is your only survival option.

Now - you can explain - the gun was pointed at Martin - but he stayed on his cell phone with his girlfriend, and didn’t yell “hey - he’s got a gun” or “send help” etc.
Now you can explain the remaining one minute of fighting between the pointing of the gun, your brave rush to disarm, and the shot.
Really - sure - it is possible. Not reasonable - but possible.
Or - you could find out - that Zimmerman’s statement night of event perfectly matched all other witnesses, and timeline, and other facts (shirt, nose, head, 911 recordings, etc.)
