Cheney’s biggest problem IMHO is that he is not an Ivy League fop that the press can adore and admire because no one can be that smart from a hick school. Especially a Republican.

Cheney was Yale, class of 1963. Didn't graduate though.

Liberals are going to dislike any prominent conservative and vice versa, so they don't need any particular reason to dislike him.

That doesn't mean that he doesn't have real problems, though.
