The Road Weve Traveled is an Obama campaign short movie or alternatively dubbed docu-ganda that, to many, is a stunningly fawning 17-minute account of what the filmmaker posits are the presidents myriad accomplishments during his first term.
Remember how far weve come, opens director Davis Guggenheims film. Guggenheim, of course, made waves recently when he asserted that the only negative about President Obama is that he has too many positives.
But where does the title and theme for Obamas mini propagandist piece hail from? Glenn Beck went digging and thinks he might have found the answers in a book from 1942.

Written by FDR-admirer Stuart Chase, the book focuses on America once it has dispensed with free enterprise entirely. Chase wrote that while he could call this new society communist, state capitalist, or fascist, he preferred the more ambiguous Political System X.
But who is Stuart Chase?
According to historical records, Chase was an American economist and MIT-trained engineer whose writings covered topics running the gamut of semantics to the economy. His mindset was said to have been shaped by Fabian socialism and he was an open admirer of the planned economy of the former Soviet Union. Chases early political career advocated birth control and socialism, to name a few.
Often credited with being the originator of the term New Deal, a glimpse at a closing quote from his book by the same name just might reveal this authors mindset: Why should Russians have all the fun remaking a world?
Beck mapped out Political System Xs main characteristics:
A strong centralized government
An executive arm growing at the expense of the legislative and judicial arm
Control of banking, credit and security exchanges by the government
Underwriting of employment through armaments or by public works
Underwriting of Social Security by the government Underwriting of food, housing and medical care by the government
Use of deficit spending to finance underwritings
Abandonment of gold in lieu of managed currency
Government control over trade, natural resources, transportation, agricultural production, organized labor unions, and youth corps-enlistments, to name a few
A youth and people dedicated to the ideology of government authorities
Heavy taxation of estates and incomes of the wealthy
State control over communications and propaganda
Chase wrote that if executed correctly, the ship could not be veered off its course once en route.

...discussed the uncanny resemblance Obama's movie bears to a book titled, "The Road We Are Traveling 1914-1942." Written by FDR-admirer Stuart Chase, the book focuses on America once it has dispensed with free enterprise entirely. Chase wrote that while he could call this new society "communist, state capitalist, or fascist," he preferred the more ambiguous "Political System X."Thanks mojitojoe.

And yet, Beck supports Romney...
Go figure.
Once the libtards have addicted enough parasites to free handouts from the goobermint, the libtards will never lose.
The name of Obama's new movie is called "the road we've traveled"
Look at his ideas...they've all happened!!!

By: Stuart Chase
In 1942, Stuart Chase, in his book "The Road We Are Traveling" spelled out the system of planning the Fabians had in mind.
1. Strong, centralized government.
2. Powerful Executive at the expense of Congress and the Judicial.
3. Government controlled banking, credit and securities exchange.
4. Government control over employment.
5. Unemployment insurance, old age pensions.
6. Universal medical care, food and housing programs.
7. Access to unlimited government borrowing.
8. A government managed monetary system.
9. Government control over all foreign trade.
10. Government control over natural energy sources, transportation and agricultural production.
11. Government regulation of labor.
12. Youth camps devoted to health discipline, community service and ideological teaching consistent with those of the authorities.
13. Heavy progressive taxation and hidden taxes on nations wealth.
The Fabian Socialist Revolution began in earnest in 1933 with the imposition of the Welfare State and has been steadily progressing since.
That assumes that the total pie remains constant, or grows. History shows that prosperity/total-pie disappears when the majority have no incentive to work hard. If everyone (but the political elite) become poor, the free handouts will shrink and the masses may see the light.
Road metaphors are all too common. Pretty much unavoidable.
But I see Glenn's Stuart Chase and raise him John T. Flynn.
No he doesn't, his choice is Santorum.
But like all the other talking heads and right wing politicians have announced that they will support Romney if he is the nominees.
In my mind this allows the GOPe to continue to press their Progressive candidate with no fear of losing the base. Those that have announced they will support Romney include every conservative you have seen mentioned on this board. DeMint, Thune, Jeb, GW, Rush, Levin, Hannity, Huckabee, Trump, and of course the biggest horn tooter of all.
LOL @ that picture!
Are we too far down the road to turn back? It's bad enough the squatter has trashed the Constitution but now we have SCOTUS touting it as old and outdated. Congress has been rendured useless. The citizens are in full blown gimme mode and our rights are being rapidly taken away by both sides.
Thanks for the correction.
Great pic!
Are we too far down the road to turn back?

If you want my honest opinion, yes, UNLESS there is some major event that changes things. I hope I am wrong.
This is what I think happened:
Once upon a time, I was invited to the White House for a private dinner with the President. I am a respected businessman, with a factory that produces memory chips for computers and portable electronics. There was some talk that my industry was being scrutinized by the administration, but I paid it no mind. I live in a free country. There’s nothing that the government can do to me if I’ve broken no laws. My wealth was earned honestly, and an invitation to dinner with an American President is an honor I checked my coat, was greeted by the Chief of Staff, and joined the President in a yellow dining room.
We sat across from each other at a table draped in white linen. The Great Seal was embossed on the china. Uniformed staff served our dinner. The meal was served, and I was startled when my waiter suddenly reached out, plucked a dinner roll off my plate, and began nibbling it as he walked back to the kitchen. “Sorry about that,” said the President. “Andrew is very hungry.” “I don’t appreciate...” I began, but as I looked into the calm brown eyes across from me, I felt immediately guilty and petty. It was just a dinner roll. “Of course,” I concluded, and reached for my glass. Before I could, however, another waiter reached forward, took the glass away and swallowed the wine in a single gulp. “And his brother Eric is very thirsty.” said the President.
The President is testing my compassion, I thought. I will play along. I don’t want to seem unkind. My plate was whisked away before I had tasted a bite. “Eric’s children are also quite hungry.” With a lurch, I crashed to the floor. My chair had been pulled out from under me. I stood, brushing myself off angrily, and watched as it was carried from the room. “And their grandmother can’t stand for long.” I excused myself, smiling outwardly, but inside feeling like a fool. Obviously I had been invited to the White House to be sport for some game.
I reached for my coat, to find that it had been taken. I turned back to the President.”Their grandfather doesn’t like the cold.” I wanted to shout- that was my coat! But again, I looked at the placid smiling face of my host and decided I was being a poor sport. I spread my hands helplessly and chuckled. Then I felt my hip pocket and realized my wallet was gone. I excused myself and walked to a phone on an elegant side table. I learned shortly that my credit cards had been maxed out, my bank accounts emptied, my retirement and equity portfolios had vanished, and my wife had been thrown out of our home. Apparently, the waiters and their families were moving in.
The President hadn’t moved or spoken as I learned all this, but finally I lowered the phone into its cradle and turned to face him. “Andrew’s whole family has made bad financial decisions. They haven’t planned for retirement, and they need a house. They recently defaulted on a subprime mortgage. I told them they could have your home. They need it more than you do.” My hands were shaking. I felt faint. I stumbled back to the table and knelt on the floor.
The President cheerfully cut his meat, ate his steak and drank his wine. I lowered my eyes and stared at the small grey circles on the tablecloth that were water drops.”By the way,” He added, “I have just signed an Executive Order nationalizing your factories. I’m firing you as head of your business. I’ll be operating the firm now for the benefit of all mankind. There’s a whole bunch of Erics and Andrews out there and they can’t come to you for jobs groveling like beggars.” I looked up. The President dropped his spoon into the empty ramekin which had been his creme brulee. He drained the last drops of his wine. As the table was cleared, he lit a cigarette and leaned back in his chair. He stared at me. I clung to the edge of the table as if were a ledge and I were a man hanging over an abyss.
I thought of the years behind me, of the life I had lived. The life I had earned with a lifetime of work, risk and struggle. Why was I punished? How had I allowed it to be taken? What game had I played and lost? I looked across the table and noticed with some surprise that there was no game board between us. What had I done wrong? As if answering the unspoken thought, the President suddenly cocked his head, locked his empty eyes to mine, and bared a million teeth, chuckling wryly as he folded his hands he said: “You should have stopped me at the dinner roll”.
LucyT’s Ping.......................
It can be turned back but not without what my tagline says. Just MHO of course...
Where there’s smoke, there’s a fire.
I’m glad to see Glenn doing something other than attack Newt Gingrich for no reason.
I just may have to start paying attention to him again.
We’re way past the dinner roll. We’re at dessert. 2013 will be the powers that be toasting each other with after-dinner drinks.
Thanks thouworm.
