My point is, the media has gone to great lengths to portray Zimmerman in as bad a light as possible, while showing Trayvon as almost angelic- to the point of posting pictures that are years old. Everyone takes as gospel Trayvon was not acting suspiciously and was only targeted because he was black. But how do we know that. I’m pointing out inconsistencies that don’t make sense.

I completely agree about the media portrayal of Zimmerman, but I don’t think you need to investigate Martin’s background to show that he was acting suspiciously. I also think that those who are convinced Zimmerman was a bad actor or a racist should take a deep breath and acknowledge that it is possible to be acting in a way that appears suspicious even when you are doing nothing wrong.

Consider this: it’s been reported that Martin’s cell phone conversation was over a bluetooth earpiece. Have you ever seen somebody on a bluetooth, but not seen the earpiece? They look crazy. And Zimmerman certainly, under a hood and in the rain, could not have seen Martin’s earpiece.

Think about it: a teenager, shuffling around (as teens do) apparently muttering to himself. How would that look? Maybe “like there’s something wrong with him...on drugs or something”?

Many acquaintances of both have described them as decent, friendly, good people.

It is perfectly rational - and fits all the known facts - to believe both that Martin was a basically good kid who clearly does not deserve to be dead, but that Zimmerman committed no crime. There was a truly tragic sequence of events involving poor judgment on the part of both people. Why do so many insist on trying to prove that one or the other was some kind of menace?

Krankor, you’ve hit the nail on the head as far as I’m concerned. Whatever happened, it was tragic. But the irritating and despicable thing is the way the media and ruling elites are trying to manipulate the “story”. Just as the Duke lacrosse case ended with the whole truth being revealed, so will it be here (or at least as much as is extant). But I’m sure Obama and his political and cultural allies want that to NOT HAPPEN until maximum political gain is achieved.

I’m amazed at some of the smaller details in their attempts to steer the story. One of the silliest was when I heard one of media types (and, no, I don’t recall who) on TV say something about Trayvon talking to his “little friend” on his cell phone. The emotion laden words “little friend” were what stuck in my mind. They were clearly trying to paint a certain picture. And who knows, including with SOME POSTERS here, they may have made an emotional connection.

As for me, in this tragedy I’m staying in “just the facts, Ma’am” mode.
