There’s a police report concerning what they found. The cellphone (for which there is a phone log from the phone company) indicates he had a cellphone with him. That doesn’t show up on the police report.

Well, I am pretty sure all the available police reports are here and none of them mentions what was in his pockets. Again, I have no reason to doubt the family was told what was in his pockets, and no reason to doubt it was Skittles.
