Newt Gingrich says Zimmerman chose a dangerous hobby and that he stepped outside the law.
Not a penny has to be spend on investigation for this incident, mob rule has already determined that Zimmerman is guilty!
I love Gingrich but he is wrong here.
Zimmerman didn’t step outside the law and the Police Chief wasn’t suspended, as Gingrich stated.
Santorum got REALLY carried away on this one. I wish none of them would weigh in on this stuff.
I didn't find that quote exactly, but what I found in several stories was close:
While campaigning in Louisiana, Gingrich described Zimmerman as "a guy who found a hobby that is very dangerous" and said he "was clearly overreaching" his watch responsibilities.
"I suspect that justice will be done and I think it is a tragedy. In that sense you have to understand how much of a tragedy it is for the family and for the young man involved," Gingrich said.
He was wrong too then, he should have kept his mouth shut. What is so special about this case? This sort of thing happens daily in cities all over the country? Is it because the kid had Skittles in his pocket and a bizarre name? I don’t get it.
He did not say anything about Zimmerman violating “the law.”
Santorum went overboard, but his statements weren't as bad as this particular author interpreted them. He didn't convict Zimmerman, for example. He argued, as did Gingrich, that "Stand Your Ground" does not apply. Of course, so does Zimmerman's lawyer, so it looks like Santorum is correct about that.
