Prayers up for all of you. Heres some love for your dad:

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God and my strength, in whom I will trust. Ps. 18.2

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Ps.55.22

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs on your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. Matt. 10:29-31

Trust in him at all times, pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Ps. 68:8

Last one
Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Deut 31.6

I don't have any suggestions as to particular scripture. I'll leave that to others.

I do have a suggestion as the Bible to read out of. I strongly recommend the King James Version. It is not the best translation for study purposes but it does have one thing over all other English translations.

One of the purposes of the King James version was for it to be read aloud. I think that it excels at this. It flows and has majesty.

The last year of my mothers life we went through something similar to what you described. When she was hospitalized for the last time her raving and screeching and inability to recognize or comprehend or be comforted caused her Dr. to call a psychiatrist who put her on type of drugs for depression within a week she was almost normal and shortly thereafter she returned to her old self. We were grateful to have her back. My mom died 6 months later she was in end stage congested heart failure but we had quality time with her till the end.Prayer for your dad.

Hello FRiend!
Thank you for updating us on your Dad.
Prayers for him continue and for your family and you as well.

I would imagine reading the Psalms might be comforting and reassuring to both you and your Dad.

Please keep in touch when you can.

All of God’s mercies and blessings be yours and your family’s!

Love in Christ,
Meeky

Not a Bible verse but a mighty fine poem in a biblical sense.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."

By all means read Scripture to him - you just never know where he is or what gets through. My mother just got home after triple pneumonia, intubation and a three and one half month hospitalization. During the darkest time, we read Scripture, sang and prayed for her as well as talking and generally behaving as if she wasn’t a corpse. After she came out of the stupor and intubation period, she told us she saw her parents who told her they were waiting for her - both were Christians. She also said she saw her brother who died when he was five years old. My mother is 88 years old and this trial was something of a minor miracle for us; but, you never know. Your father is in my prayers.

There’s strength in numbers and Freepers stick together. Sometimes the accompanying medications can cause temporary symptoms such as hallucinations or other symptoms that affect the patient mentally, even steroids. I will continue to pray and hope that his condition improves as those wear off. I have been there, I understand what you are going through. Please remember to take cre of yourself and get much needed rest and respite as you can...and do not feel the least bit guilty in doing so. Sending you warm hugs and hopefully, some comfort.
