Some unsettling news for Romney …
Orange Punch, the political commentary blog of the Orange County Register ^ | 3-19-2012 | Mark Landsbaum

Remember John McCain? Yeah, we hardly do too. Let us remind you that one reason he’s a faint memory is that not many people liked him. Even the people who voted for him in 2008 didn’t much care for him. He lacked the pizzazz needed to captivate a national electorate. Consequently, Barack Obama, an utterly unqualified, not-so-closeted Big Government socialist in the European tradition was able to trounce McCain. The reason primarily was that Obama was more likable.

Almost no one could tell you what his positions really were or predict accurately the disaster he would bring with him in his first three years. But almost everyone liked him. (Just another evidence of our theory)

So, have Republicans learned their lesson? Well, Mitt Romney is the clear front-runner for the GOP nomination. ... What do people think of him?

Hmmmmm! I, too, have been wondering how Romney’s high and higher unfavorable ratings still leave him with the most votes in most states. It doesn’t “jive”. I was thinking that Ron Paul must be signaling his folks to vote Romney to stop Santorum or Newt. It can be the only solution. Or, democrats are voting. It has to be one or the other.

Tell us again why these two are our choices?

Because the establishment republicans insist that Romney is "our" choice and the establishment republicans care much more for self and party short term than they do about country long term.

We need a conservative to run for the sake of the country, NOT a republican for the sake of the party!

Not much. He probably uses excerpts to pimp his foul blog.

Have you ever heard of that form of scum-sucking foulness?

Maybe that is why most people did not listen to what he said but were charmed by his “likeableness”. I also think a lost of conservatives did not vote for McCain because he is a RINO.

I disagree. There were two reasons Obama won.

First. The MSM did everything possible to help Obama. They continually lied about him and covered up his past. They continually talked about how smart Obama was. They engaged in character assassination against Sarah Palin.

Second. McCain ran an absolutely terrible campaign. It was the most incompetent campaign I have seen in my lifetime. Either McCain’s staff was deliberately sabotaging his campaign and working for Obama or they are totally incompetent.

Without the total support of the MSM for Obama and the total incompetence and/or sabotage of McCain’s staff McCain would have won easily.

yea, well, Kissinger has promised China in January that Jeb Bush will be the next president. So I guess that leaves everyone in the primary out. the only way that can happen is with a brokered convention.

Either way, not mutually exclusive.

In ‘08 my neighbor down the street cut McCain’s name off the top of the McCain-Palin yard sign, leaving only Palin on the sign.

I hate it when people call Obama a European style Marxist, say he want to turn us into France, etc. They wish. I’ve been to France. He wants to turn us into the Soviet Union. He has no issues with Lenin and Stalin, and his living heroes are Fidel and Chavez, and he sure loves the Chinese.
