CALL EACH OF THE FRONT-RUNNER CAMPAIGNS DIRECTLY AT 1-877-354-2951 OR SEND AN EMAIL BELOW.

Please let us know how they respond – email us at grassroots@pornharms.com

THREE LEADING GOP CANDIDATES HAVE GIVEN STATEMENTS PROMISING TO ENFORCE OBSCENITY LAWS IF THEY ARE ELECTED!

We encourage you to continue efforts to contact them though.

ASK THEM TO SPEAK OUT ON THE ISSUE! They must feel the pressure and know that this issue is important to Americans.

Former Senator Rick Santorum in a written statement:

“Federal obscenity laws should be vigorously enforced. If elected President, I will appoint an Attorney General who will do so. Limited Justice Department resources should be used to protect children and women from predators, not limited by state boundaries rather than to sue border states.” Note: Senator Santorum has commented listed pornography as one of the issues he is concerned with on his website here.

Former Governor Mitt Romney in a written statement:

“(I)t is imperative that we cultivate the promotion of fundamental family values. This can be accomplished with increased parental involvement and enhanced supervision of our children. It includes strict enforcement of our nation’s obscenity laws, as well as the promotion of parental software controls that guard our children from Internet pornography.”

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich in a face-to-face meeting:

When asked by MIM staff if he will enforce existing laws that make much hard-core adult pornography illegal, he responded, “Yes, I will appoint an Attorney General who will enforce these laws.”

..............................................

Under both the Reagan and Bush I Administrations, vigorous prosecutions of the nation’s top pornographers not only led to a dramatic decrease of pornography, but also a significant change in the nature of pornography. The porn industry stopped producing violent-themed pornography such as rape films, as well as themes involving children. In recent years, however, all prosecution of the existing obscenity laws has stopped, essentially giving pornographers a free pass to produce as much of the hardest types of pornography possible. As a result of not enforcing the law, hardcore pornography has now become the majority of available porn and individuals are suffering from a plethora of harms.

According to peer-reviewed research and many, many personal accounts, harm from adult pornography is at pandemic levels. Exposure to pornography is leading to addiction among many children and adults, and is a significant cause of broken marriages and the sexual exploitation of children and women. Pornography is linked to increased demand of sexual trafficking and its role as a gateway to child pornography is a major reason why child pornographers are increasing at unprecedented levels, according to new studies.

There is good news though! Already existing federal laws, upheld by the U. S. Supreme Court, prohibit distribution of hard-core obscene pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV, on hotel/motel TV, in retail shops, through the mail, and by common carrier. The law is on our side. We simply need a President who is willing to demand that it be enforced.

The Obama Administration has turned a blind eye to the harm from pornography and has not initiated a single new federal obscenity prosecution since President Obama was inaugurated. In fact, they disbanded the task force organized to investigate and prosecute. We need presidential leadership on this issue. Please contact all of the candidates by email or by phone to make sure they know just how damaging it is to Americans if they allow these laws to remain uninforced.

Thanks for your concern, but I’d rather make my own moral judgments (and not be dictated to by moralistic censors who think they know better what’s good for me that I do myself).

“that I do myself” — “than I do myself”

(Sorry, porn must be affecting my brain, though it is after 1:30 in the morning here, so I may just be sleepy.)

Does that mean you’re voting for Barack Obama, since Romney, Gingrich and Santorum have all pledged to enforce the obscenity/pornography laws that are being ignored? This way you can indulge in your porn...

No, not viewing porn seems to have affected your memory. I said previously in post 11, “I’d never vote for Obama myself, but seeing his opponents say they’ll enforce pornography laws with more rigor causes me to view them with less approval. Enough statements like that on enough issues, I may just say to hell with them all, and not vote for anybody.”
