I can confirm the same for West Tennessee and North Mississippi. Santorum signs are all over, with the occasional Romney or Paul sign (except for all the Romney signs around the polling places.) I have yet to see a Newt sign in this area.

I have yet to see a Newt sign in this area. I also noticed that some of my neighbors who have Santorum yard signs are also Christian & Homeschoolers. Santorum won our state on issues. Not even Haslam's GOP elitist backing of Romney could overcome it. Santorum won over the southern grassroots voters.

Considering what you described, it proves that outward appearances can be deceiving.
Romney did surprisingly well under the outward support for Santorum.
