He is...
That may well be, but he's not getting enough support to win the nomination.
But Rick is still better than Mitt, and even Mitt would be better than The Won, even if only because he'd slow the rate of advance on the falls we are about to go over, giving us more time to get out of the FReaking river.
I'm getting really tired of my choice either dropping out or being forced out before I even get a chance to vote for their delegates.
Although I voted for my favorite anyway, even though he'd formally dropped out and McCain had it tied up, same same in 1996 when we got Dole.
I thought this year, I'd at least get to have my vote count for something.. but then the Federal Courts intervened to postpone the Texas primaries, twice, ostensibly over redistricting. Originally set for Super Tuesday, instead they will be at the end of May. Grrr.
Thanks Gampa :)
Newt for SecState or SecDef. He'd be best at the former, but he'd do well at the latter too. OTOH, John Bolen for SecState sounds good too, maybe even better, he'd be kicking ash and taking names.
Admitting Errors Is Good. More people should do it often.
In a way I would like to see this contest go all the way to the convention in August. That way Obama and the MSM will not have just one target to go Alinsky on over the summer.
Without saying so explicitly, Gingrich practically announced an ALLIANCE with Santorum tonight in a mission to deny Romney the nomination.
This may well turn out to be successful and I think the smarmy main stream media and the Romney campaign members and representatives (I think I’ll start to refer to them as apologists) are beginning to recognize this.
Has anyone else noticed how Romney’s movements are beginning to look more and more like those of Uriah Heep as described in David Copperfield? You know, kind of jerky and writhing and twisting; like Romney is embarrassed and/or physically uncomfortable in his own skin or with the words he is speaking. It’s almost like he no longer has his bodily motions in sync with the words he is mouthing. Check out some of his recent appearances — particularly when he is speaking “informally” to his small crowds. It’s almost painful to watch. “Oh, how the mighty have fallen”.
Outstanding humility!! It is a pleasure to reply to you!!!

In our culture, there seems to be a rush to judgement on a two-dimentional, take it or leave it, either-or basis.
In the Eisenhower Administration, Sec. of State Dulles used that two-dimentional thinking with third-world countries such as India. John Foster’s rule of thumb was “Either you are for us or against us.” Nehru said none of the above, and The Third World was born to the horror of Dulles.
Today the MSM drumbeat to find Number One, is based a two-dimentional assumption that a supporter of one candidate would switch support to another candidate if their candidate dropped out of the race. Some will, but many others will a) not vote, b) vote for who they think will be the eventual Nominee, c) vote for anybody but the top two candidates, or c) turn in a ballot with no Presidential names marked.
It is far better for the GOP to see what % of the voters vote for the various candidates, as each one has distinct ideas, and thereby show that ideas are important in selecting a Nominee.
For example: About 1/3 rd like to vote for the SOS_ _ _ Candidate; 1/3 rd like to vote for the hope of the future Candidate; and 1/3 rd vote for 2 candidates who are boat-rockers.
The supporters of the boat-rockers are the least likely to vote for the SOS, or the hope of the future Candidates.
Thus, the best way to reform the Republican Party is to bring the remaining FOUR HORSEMEN into The Big Tent at Tampa, and force by debate on the floor, the RNC to stop Nominating round-heeled RINOs to defeat the Counter Culture Left.
The longer the Primary Campaign goes on, the fewer the opportunities will remain for Candidates to convince voters that they have ideas with merit, or, in the case of Romney, any useful ideas at all - - - .

LOL! I LOVE IT!!! JUST LOVE IT!!
So, as of tonight, I will support Santorum, with a very heavy heart, which with my record, is probably not good for him. If my record is a pattern, Santorum will also falter, and Mr. Newt will pick up the flag and take it home.
I will support the nominee in the end! Whatever that means.
Mitt will do extremely poor in TX.
I agree with you that Newt might make the better President. But who says he cannot be an important part of the battle to remove these Commie Bastards from all levels of government.
Thanks for your comments that depict so well why the GOP has such a miserable record of choosing a Nominee with a spine.
If you do the math, you will find that about 4 % of Republican voters choose who the Nominee will be in our sorry, Liberal-skewed Primary system.
Usually the Primary voters panic early and vote in “the candidate that is the most likely to win,” rather than the Candidate that would be the best for America.
Fortunately in this Primary Campaign the “most likely to win” voters are fewer than usual so a true dialog has been allowed to develop.
This has been very healthy for the Party’s future, but unhealthy for the Party Elite.
Will the Party Elite tolerate dialog, debate, and allow for a focused approach to the defeat of the counter culture mindset in “both” political parties?
Or will the Republican Elite once again crush debate by telling us to “Unite” behind THEIR cave-in specialist Nominee?
The Republican Elite love the current Primary system because it shows the Democrats, Independents, Women, Academia, Minorities, Majorities, Foreign Nations, the United Nations, and the MSM that the Republican Party is “United.”
Not much thought has gone into what the Republican Party stands for, and thus any man with great hair can run and claim to unite the party so that everybody can see that we are “united.”
So today we will be the Party that is united as we together all fall into the abyss of unlimited Federal Debt - - - .
Thanks. It is much easier to admit errors when you are thrilled about being wrong. I was too worried about Romney “winning” one of those states as a result of Santorum rising in the polls - despite him being the candidate that I would like as nominee.
