"I remember that gasoline was $1.49 per gallon in late 2004. That doesn't rate as cheap?"

I can remember when it was $.25 per gallon back around 1972. I could fuel my motorcycle, ride it all day, and still have enough change to buy a hamburger and a soda halfway through the ride.

I can remember when it was $.25 per gallon back around 1972.

$1.49 per gallon in 2004 was close to the equivalent of $.25 per gallon in 1972 taking inflation into account.
