Can Romney beat Obama?
Posted on 03/07/2012 6:40:54 PM PST by seeking enlightenment
With Romney squeaking out Ohio and a few other races before I have to question his electability. Ron Paul's supporters are going to support Paul no matter what but Santorum and Gingrich are splitting the vote. If Gingrich wasn't in the race then Romney loses the close races, there is not going to be anyone to split the the vote with Obama. Romney is also spending up to six times the money of the other candidates. Obama is talking about raising 1 billion dollars so Romney will probably be on the other side of the money battle and will his leads evaporate or will he be able to close the gap in the close races when he can't outspend Obama? I know that many people will vote for anyone but Obama but Romney doesn't seem to be able to inspire most of the Republicans and conservatives to vote for him so will he be able to pull in the undecided independents when the media turns the spotlight on him, he has yet to take a serious beating by the media yet and can he take it? If the race was a two man race and Santorum or possibly Gingrich had half his money I don't think he'd get the Republican nomination. So if Romney becomes the nominee and he no longer has his advantages and the pro Obama media comes into play, can he win?

If you look at a map of Romneys wins and where his votes are, it looks similar to an Obama win map. He might be able to squeak by in a primary, but the areas hes winning today will go to Obama in November. Ding~! Ding~! Ding~! WE HAVE A WINNER

Romney and Newt are both capable of winning. The only real shot we have at losing this thing is Santorum.
No, Romney most certainly cannot win.
Because:
1. He won't fight against Obama
2. He isn't a conservative and doesn't believe in conservative positions.
3. He has an Extreme Progressive Liberal background which will be used against him by Obama and crew.
He is a disaster waiting to happen!

You’re an idiot. I am what I said I am. I voted for Gingrich in Florida and and hoping he can make another comeback. Between Romney and Santorum, I would have to hold my nose and chose the lesser of two evils. Again, Wittle Wicky Santorum sucks.

But you are making the assumptions that Republicans will not rally around the nominee.. And that’s not true... Not this time.

Do not know what you guys are smoking. Romney will cream him. Moderate Dems and independents will vote for him over Obama. I will put money on it now. You know who cant beat Obama? Rick Santorum. he is very unlikeable...
You don't have a clue and apparently have been drinking the GOP-E kool-aid and watching faux news too much.
Romney doesn't have a chance in hell of winning the general IF he wins the nomination.
You factor in his reluctance to take the fight to Obama, with his luke-warm debating skills, with his moderate positions on many of the issues and then top it off with his Extremely Progressive Liberal record which Obama and Crew will use to decimate him and you are looking at a massive DEM win for POTUS.

At least you have the character to admit you're a romney supporters. So many come here posting nasty things about other candidates. Look, most of us, who have been here for years, have a real problem with Romney. I have read up on all the candidates and they are all imperfect, but a conservative can spot a fake and we know romney is saying the words, but its not in his heart. We don't trust him because, so many reasons, read the posting # 43 and you will understand it. Almost all of us here are Christians and our faith comes before any party. That is why we have no problem voting for Newt, he's forgiven. I'm a Rick supporter because I think he understands the real problem in this country. Someone has to stand up to the evil that has overwhelmed our country; it IS the root cause of all our problems. To us, like someone said here, is obama lite.

So who will conservatives vote for? Obama? Really... Three words... SUPREME COURT JUSTICES. Grow up.
Liberty Counsel Action Vice President Matt Barber said Romneys appointments were constitutional living document poster children.
Many of Romneys appointments were not only liberal, not only Democrats, but were radical counter-constitutionalists. How on earth can we expect that, as president, he would be any different? Barber asked rhetorically.
Actions speak louder than words, and Mitt Romneys actions as governor scream from the rooftops that he cannot be trusted with this most important of presidential responsibilities.
Barber cites two specific examples of Romneys radical appointments.
As governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney not only failed in this regard, he appointed a number of very liberal, if not radical, living, breathing-minded judges to the bench, Barber said.
Two that come to mind were extreme homosexualists Marianne C. Hinkle and Stephen Abany, he said. They both had a long history of pro-gay activism, yet Romney didnt hesitate to put them on the bench.
These are people who outrageously believe the postmodern notion that newfangled gay rights trump our constitutionally guaranteed First Amendment rights, he said.
What was your point again?
You really need to get educated about Romney, you really don't have a clue where he is concerned.

A “conservative” who chooses Obama over Romney is really no conservative—just a spoiled child looking to take down the country because he didn’t get his fetishized vision of the perfect candidate. Romney may be a RINO, but even that would be progress back in the direction we need to go over what we have now. Fighting hard in the primary is one thing, but taking your ball and going home in the general may mean you end up with a home not worth staying in.

No they won't once Obama and Crew (MSM) actually do the vetting the GOP-E did not do or Romney's current crop of supporters.
Once Romney's Extreme Progressive Record as Governor gets a real airing out by the media, the base will simply walk away from him. Romney's record that included:
1. Implementation of a State-wide Assault Weapons Bad AFTER the Federal ban was allowed to expire.
2. Whole-hearted support for Abortion
3. Whole-hearted support of the Gay Agenda, up to, and including, Gay Adoption and Gay Marriage
4. Support for Global Warming
5. Refusal to support the re-instatement of Don't Ask Don't Tell.
6. Suported TARP.
7. And his crowning glory, RomneyCare, a Socialistic Health Care plan with an Individual Mandate calling for extreme fines for people who do not purchase insurance.
Quit pushing the GOP-E line on a conservative website.

Keep sticking your head in the sand, you will be sorry when Obama cleans up the floor in the general election making John McCain's loss in 2008 look like a win.

What she the major policy difference between Romney and Barry?

Wrong.
I didn’t say supporting Obama over Romney. They simply won’t vote, or will vote third party.
Romney isn’t a step in the right direction. He’s a slightly smaller step in the wrong direction compared to Obama.
