Call your senator NOW: Reid to allow vote on repeal of contraceptive mandate

Last week Democrat pseudo-pro-life Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid blocked a vote on a bill sponsored by Republican pro-life Senator Roy Blunt to repeal President Obama’s contraception/abortifacient/sterilization mandate.

Word this afternoon is Reid will allow the measure – #1520, the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act – to be voted on, as soon as today.

These senators are said to be on the fence and need a call asap:

Casey (PA)
Conrad (ND)
Johnson (SD)
Landrieu (LA)
Lieberman (CT)
McCaskill (MO)
Nelson (FL)
Pryor (AR)
Tester (MT)

The National Right to Life Committee is scoring this vote.

once again the RIGHT can’t see the correct message - it is not about contrception, it is about religous FREEDOM!! 99% of all women have had some use of some type of contrection accoring to reprot on web by CDC today. If any part of this travesty is repealed the whole of it should be legally and lawfully unenforceable.

Flawed premise as Viagra is not an abortion pill, nor is it’s use mandated. No one is denying women access to contraceptives that you can buy off the shelf at a drug store next to cold pills and arthritis medication.

Good post but I think the fallacy of the present conservative movement is that “our” involvement of the political process could actually change things (Not withstanding all the great conservative voices in our camp). We are dealing with a more basic cultural issue at the family level. Don't think the Founders thought that the Republic they created required a full time political class to run their Republic. Think they expected the populace to be only a part time political entity as the community was working their full time “human needs” taking care of God, family, community issues. Solution involves taking back the culture. Media, schools and home. Not easy but can be done.

Landrieu is Roman Catholic. Are any of the others? She always contends that she is opposed to abortion, but is in favor of a woman's right to choose. How her priest and bishop let her get away with this and remain in good standing with the church denotes hypocrisy by the leaders of the Catholic church. You can't be just a little bit pregnant. If she isn't willing to publicly oppose and vote against all abortion matters that come before the Senate, then she should be excommunicated from the church. Her and all other elected Catholics that behave the way Landrieu does deserve this fate.

My point is that men are getting “cheap or insurance covered Viagra or equal”, while their wives must pay for The Pill...some how I think the little lady will get pissed. At the decision and equity procces.

Well the wives don’t have to pay for The Pill now, the whole country does. Planned Parenthood has been giving those pills away all along. The whole notion that access to contraceptives have been limited is bullcrap.
