You have to remember that the bishops take as a first premise that every human being conceived is made in the image and likeness of God, that God loves each of us immeasurably -- and expects us to aspire toward loving one another, that nations are provisional and temporary, while individuals last forever.
I'm guessing you didn't go to the link and read the whole testimony. I'm also guessing there is nothing I can post to open your eyes to the socialist/progressive ideology of the bishops.

I know this. I also know the bishops don't care about sovereignty or borders. They also want taxpayers to subsidize, through "programs", the existing welfare state.
