Romney still would have won Florida if Rick was out. Rick and Newt together do much better in the proportional delegate states.

Had Santorum dropped out and supported Newt then Newt would have won Florida or lost by just a few points. A close Florida election would have put Newt in much stronger position. In proportionate delegate states Santorum pickups are throw away and serve no purpose other than to siphon delegates from Newt. Your “plan” makes no sense.

But it does illustrate my point which is that conservatives are unfortunately facilitating a Romney nomination because of too many conservative candidates splitting the vote. It is simple math.
