..."in comparison with those of competitor nations. Meanwhile, it's costing the federal taxpayer a fortune, each and every year. All to spread the most anti-social, irrational, and pernicious doctrines, designed to undermine civil society from within, from the get-go...." Hello Betty....so great seeing your posts, and as always stimultate ones thinking and heart.

I recently read an article about how the costs for "educating" our students and yet they no longer are competitive with those of other countries spending far far less.

My son took his teenage daughters out of the school system this year, who are doing Cyber-Schooling. It's better but the criteria is still the same....but they at least believe they can counter that since the parents are directly involved with what's being taught as it's being taught. Thus far all their grades have been par excellant for they do not have the distractions etc. that floods the halls in the school system...and they were good students even then. Hopefully my family will give enough of the otherwise teaching to offset some of that from the school system. But I do question if this is even going to stop what's being stuffed into these kids.

The "stuff" being stuffed into these kids at school is relentlessly reinforced by the popular culture. Meanwhile, their minds and characters are being ruined....

I hope the Cyber-Schooling option with parental supervision will work out well for your grandkids, dear CAWW. I think the best option of all is home schooling. But not every family is in a position to do this.

But if the family can; if the family recognizes that education is about transmitting the culture in addition to skill building in critical thinking, language and math skills, character development, etc.; then it seems to me there's an excellent, time-tested, tried and true core curriculum that is quintessentially American: The McGuffey Readers. It has been used to educate Americans for nigh-on 200 years....

Of course, our progressivist pedagogues nowadays — Bill Ayers comes to mind — create education programmes that are the total inversion of McGuffey. McGuffey is about educating free men and women. Ayers' project is about how to condition men to accept their chains....

All the more reason for the federal government to get OUT of the education business: They keep funding morons like Ayers.

Thank you for your kind words, dear CAWW. God bless your grandkids — and you and all your loved ones!
