Obama Set to Cost Each of Us Hundreds a Year in Higher Electric Costs

Barack Obama’s avalanche of needless regulations on coal-fueled power plants are going into effect and the net result will be the closing of hundreds of power plants all across the country just when our need for power is increasing. This will absolutely necessitate the cost of our power to skyrocket.

Look to Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maryland where six coal-fueled power plants are being shut down by FirstEnergy because the retrofitting the power plants will have to undergo to satisfy Obama’s whims is just too expensive to justify.

Company spokesmen say there is no help for it.

“This decision is not in any way a reflection of the fine work done by the employees at the affected plants, but is related to the impact of new environmental rules,” said James H. Lash, president, FirstEnergy Generation and chief nuclear officer.

Many thousands of jobs will be lost — this particular shut down will cause the loss of over 500 jobs initially.

This country’s prevalent source for electricity is coal fired plants, and it really makes a lot of sense to shut them down, or “make them too expensive to operate” at the same time the government is subsidizing the purchase of electric powered vehicles.

I think he’s going for the “nutcracker” effect.

We can all face Washington, give the one finger salute, and loudly thank the butthead in the whitehouse.

Forget cost. If you shut down a hundred power plants what do you think the availability of electricity is going to be? Those smart meters at some point will be cutting you off after you use up your maximum allowed KW’s for the month. Maybe you will be in the dark for a few days a month. or 8-10 hours per day. Who knows? If you are not heavily researching an alternative electrical system start now.

Follow the money. The plants that will be shut down will necessitate Rate Increases, with an appropriate ROI for the First Energy company included.....count on it.

The large utilities are in bed with the Regulators, and the costs passed on are simply more "hidden taxes" of the Regulatory burdens. First Energy will MAKE more money on this deal, or it would not happen in the first place.

And for anyone who thinks Romney would be an improvement over Obama, he says coal plants “kill people”.

Our 15.5 Kwh solar system was turned on December 29th. It is a bit larger than originally planned, but we are well pleased.

If I were Newt, I’d be telling these operators to carefully mothball their plants, because they will be open for business on Day 1 of his administration.

Whoa! That is some serious solar. I was looking at 6.5KW. Now we have found a new and really cool little steam engine that will power up the battery banks running a few hours a day. We may also back that up with a small solar array on a tracker. There is a lot of new stuff coming along all the time. Glad to hear you got your system set up.
