That $7,500 tax credit is for any buyer of electric vehicles in the U.S. It makes no difference the maker of the car, it's an Obama incentive to go green. It should be done away with, pronto.

The $7,500 Tax Credit for Hybrids ended in 2010.

It now only applies to EV’s (like now bankrupt THINK! or TESla), or Plug-In Hybrids like the VOLT, Prius IV (Comes out in March).

The average VOLT buyer makes $171,000 per year. Tesla’s cost more than $100K.

The better question would be why are we subsidizing cars for FILTHY RICH DEMOCRATS??
