“There is something very, very wrong with that picture.
All of this unnecessary welfare has got to stop.
No more free cell phones for people on welfare.”

I have mixed feelings about this...

On the negative side, I have two friends that get free phones... One of them has a newer car than I do. However, have you noticed that there are no phone booths anymore?

On the positive side, people do need to make a phone call sometimes, and they cant afford a $50 a month plan from cricket. You cant look for a job without a phone number...

They can’t afford MetroPCS but they probably have cable TV and XBox Live.

I don’t have mixed feelings about this.
If you can’t afford them, you do without.
Something the “entitled” don’t have to do in the Bath-House Barry administration. Barry is INCITING riots, because those of us who pay our way or do without are angry about the EBT cards, the housing loans based on public assistance payouts and free cell phones.

I look forward to the looters’ reactions when these give-aways are taken away. The gubmint thinks those folks are gonna riot? It’s gonna be US-rioting to protect what’s left of OUR hard work from these cretins.

$29 gets you a burner phone that you can load up with cash to get calls at the rate of $1/day of use plus $0.10/minute for the call. If your calls are infrequent or bursty this works pretty well.

I don’t have as much of a problem giving a cell phone to someone looking for a job.

However, lets be honest.. Not many on welfare are actively looking for a job.

There are free phone services out there on the internet. Google Voice is one.

Set the account up at the library, call in from a phone (anyone’s) and record your voice mail greeting. And check your VM from someones phone or internet connection when your at the job bank looking for work.

Also, I can’t think of anyone looking for a job that might need 250 minutes worth.

No mixed feelings here.

Go to Walmart and get a throwaway Cell phone for $20 bucks.
No monthly fee. Use it for emergencies only.

How people have survived this long is beyond me.

I had to cut out home internet and cable since last March, along with other luxuries because my wife got sick and hasnt worked since, but I have to have my phone for my job, Thats why I havent posted lately,

I pay 30 bucks a month for 1000 min, 1000 texts, and 30 mb of data through straight talk, Up until last week, that little phone was my home internet,

My vehicle aint new,,,but its mine,

The laptop Im posting on I put together from two broken ones people didnt want to fix, The period button aint workin, but its mine,

We had to cut back on our food spending, Ate alot of beans and deer meat, The doggies still ate good though,

I couldve gotten Food stamps, Couldve got a free phone too,but I made it work without asking no one for nothing, Its called having priorities,

Actually, during this past year, some of the cutting back forced my wife and I to get closer, Instead of going out to eat, we would pack a picnic and hike down to the creek, We learned how to make do with less so when things get better, we can save more money every month,

"On the positive side, people do need to make a phone call sometimes,"

Oh, what are other fine reasons you think I should have my money taken from me? Do you want to come and take it yourself or are you content to send your government thugs. I'd really like you to try to take it from me. I'd like that very much.

On the positive side, those that commit the most crimes now carry personal tracking devices that ping their location periodically. It’s a slight software change to record all conversations and take photos and videos, even when the phone is powered off.
