Tom Clancy's latest thriller, "Locked On" is, as always, a really good read. Many FReepers, like myself, have been fans ever since "The Hunt for Red October." There is one thing however, that is suprisingly different in his newest novel.
My error! Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!
Thanks for the correction.
I recently read Dead or Alive. It was great.
I’ve always been a Clancy fan. His Cold War stuff is great.
This plot sounds similar to Rainbow Six, except the villains in that book were environmentalists.
I’m also a big Michael Crichton fan. He was another writer that “got it”.
I thought Stephen King was found dead in his Maine home. Truly an American icon.
And BSD is dying. That’s what I read on slashdot.org
Yes, but he always did.
Tom Clancey is a GREAT AUTHOR... he and Clive Cussler are great!!
About the Author Tom Clancy is Americas, and the worlds, favorite international thriller author. Starting with The Hunt for Red October, all thirteen of his previous books have hit #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. His books, The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears have been made into major motion pictures. He lives in Maryland where he is a co-owner of the Baltimore Orioles. -
Tom Clancy, like Vince Flynn, Dale Brown, and a number of other authors popular with conservatives, is a very good storyteller but a horrible writer of prose fiction. Tom Wolfe was dead on in his comment a few years back that Clancy was "the best bad writer in America."
This new book might be very good if Clancy has focused on constructing the story and has let his co-author do the heavy lifting.
