Sounds a lot like my favorite LENR theorist, KP Sinha.

Methinks nuclear modes are in different energy regimes than phonons or electronic excitations: and one would need a mechanism to transfer energy between nuclear excitations and the electron "sea"...haven't done any solid state theory so all I can do is point at the type of thing to look at.
Cheers!
How about a ‘simple’ layman’s explanation of the implications??
I think he’s just showing off! (But I’ll hang around to see if there is a reply I can understand!)
LOL.
I think Kevmo is a fun dude with a great mind.
However . . . as my teen pastor used to say . . .
Gotta get the hay down outta the loft where the cows can eat it.
I’m fascinated by LENR, but don’t have enough physics background to understand it very well. Can anyone recommend a book or article explaining what’s involved which can be understood by someone with only a high school physics background?
This one is on-line, free, and has a pretty good introduction. It later gets into more depth:

Other books, videos, etc.:

I agree with WW. In particular, the book “Excess Heat” is a good read.
OK, here’s my swag.
Basically Phonons are Bosons (electron pairs that are somehow ‘special’). And it is Bosons that are the basis of KP Sinha’s theories.
Here’s how I look at it. Up until now, there’s been no evidence that Phonons/Bosons/Lochons convert their energy from vibration to ‘the grid’, which would mean heat or maybe even electricity.
But here we have an example of it happening in Nature.
And KP Sinha’s theory promotes that possibility (even before this result was developed) as the explanation not only for LENR but for superconductivity as well.
Here’s another way I look at it. Phonons are like blackbirds. Real Small. The ‘grid’, the Palladium (or Nickel) Matrix is like an elephant. Now if I were to tell you that a blackbird could knock over an elephant due ENTIRELY to its kinetic (MOTION) energy, you’d say I was crazy. But blackbirds have been known to swarm in the millions. And they turn on a dime, flying almost as an organic unit. If such an organic unit hit an elephant, it could knock over an elephant. The fascinating thing is... every time we see the elephant get knocked over we see a swarm of blackbirds. And that is the same correlation of excess heat to LENR.
I haven’t seen you be all that active lately, Quix. I thought I saw JimRob tell you to basically stay away from UFO threads or sumthin like that.
Is that the case?
You won't get it. Overall, Kevmo has little concern for the user friendliness of his posts. In addition, part of his strategy is to baffle people into thinking that LENR is a useful science.
Check the recommendations on Amazon, and stay away from the cranks associated with LENR.
Hmmmmmmmm
Sigh.
Thx.

***Moonboy goes out of his way to get things wrong. How would he know my strategy? Has he developed the ability to mindread? At least he’s open about being anti-LENR.
OK.
What do I know.
I’m just a peanut gallery observer.
