Fake Tea Party Scam Ends In Fraud Convictions

Jason Bauer, a former Oakland Country Democratic Party official, was sentenced to one year of probation and $2,600 in fines for his involvement with a 2010 fake Tea Party scheme. Bauer is the second person involved in the plot to be sentenced. Former Oakland County Democratic Party Chair Mike McGuinness pleaded no contest in October to charges of perjury and forgery.

Capitol Confidential broke the story of the fake “Tea Party” in July of 2010 in the article, “Democratic Party Political Director Linked to Mysterious Tea Party Political Party.”

The Tea Party fraud was initially caught by blogger Jason Gillman, who writes at www.RightMichigan.com. Gillman won an award from the Sam Adam’s Alliance for “Watchdog” reporting. At the time, Gillman said, “Make no mistake, bloggers are useful for digging up info, exposing corruption, underhandedness, etc., but ultimately, … even the important unearthed truths must pass through established and credible sources. In this case my go-to was the Mackinac Center, and specifically Capitol Confidential.”

Proving once again that democrats have no respect for the voting rights or opinions of those who don’t agree with them. If they could get away with it, most would have no problem totally suppressing the constitutional and natural rights of those they disagree with.

That is a bs sentence, he should have done a year of weekends and community service at the bareazz minimum. This should also disqualify him from ever serving in any government job (including the one he may still be in).

I hope this sob is glued to the tv when Michigan goes GOP this fall...

Its a crap sentence but its more than anyone has gotten anywhere else in America.

BTW, Michigan went solidly GOP in the election these guys were screwing with. In fact, the GOP wave was probably greater here than anywhere else in America in 2010. The democrats didn’t pick up a single seat above the county level but the GOP took the governor’s mansion, attorney General, Secretary of state, both houses of the state legislature, two supreme court seats and two US House seats. Either that, or the media will be completely silent of this as one of their own was caught wrong doing.
