JANUARY 15 In or Out? Perry Counts on Strong S.C. Vote to Stay in Race
Danny Yadron and Brody Mullins
Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Sunday he will decide on Saturday whether to drop his presidential bid if he does not place first or a close second in South Carolinas GOP primary that day.
Well make that decision on Saturday, he said on ABCs This Week. Its our intention to win South Carolina and go forward from there. But to try to plan out your campaign months in advance, I think is a little bit of a stretch. The governor, who trailed in the Iowa caucuses and in the New Hampshire primary, said Sunday that his service in the Air Force will play well with the Palmetto States large veterans population. He has also tried to gain votes by attacking front-runner Mitt Romney as a vulture capitalist, a phrase that conservative commentators say sounds like an attack on free enterprise. Mr. Perry said he disagrees.
This is not something we knew wasnt coming up, he said. Its better to be talking about it here in January in South Carolina than it is in October.
Also on Sunday morning, Rick Santorum sought to build on some recent momentum, including new support from conservative Christian groups, saying he will beat Mr. Romney for the Republican nomination once all the other candidates drop out. Speaking on Fox News Sunday and CBSs Face the Nation, Mr. Santorum said that he wont drop out after South Carolina and said that race is all about whittling down the field to just him and Mr. Romney.
In a contest with just Mr. Romney, Id win, Mr. Santorum said on Fox..
Mr. Santorum declined to ask his chief rivals for the conservative vote to drop out of the...

Perry and the winkles.
Come on, Perry - you have to know that polls - even your own internal ones - show that there’s no way in hell that you’re going to finish first or strong second.
So why stick in it at all? At this point, all you’re acting as is a spoiler to split votes away from the other non-Romneys in the race.
(Not that I’m thrilled with any of the non-Romneys - but at least they’re not Romney.)

Oops-sorry
Perry is staying in so we have a real conservative alternative with experience and actual executive record. All the rest are just talkers and wannabes.
“Come on, Perry - you have to know that polls - even your own internal ones - show that theres no way in hell that youre going to finish first or strong second.”
Perry is banking on a third place finish in the Paint Creek Primary.
