JANUARY 15 In or Out? Perry Counts on Strong S.C. Vote to Stay in Race

Danny Yadron and Brody Mullins

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Sunday he will decide on Saturday whether to drop his presidential bid if he does not place first or a close second in South Carolina’s GOP primary that day.

“We’ll make that decision on Saturday,” he said on ABC’s This Week. “It’s our intention to win South Carolina and go forward from there. But to try to plan out your campaign months in advance, I think is a little bit of a stretch.” The governor, who trailed in the Iowa caucuses and in the New Hampshire primary, said Sunday that his service in the Air Force will play well with the Palmetto State’s large veterans population. He has also tried to gain votes by attacking front-runner Mitt Romney as a “vulture” capitalist, a phrase that conservative commentators say sounds like an attack on free enterprise. Mr. Perry said he disagrees.

“This is not something we knew wasn’t coming up,” he said. “It’s better to be talking about it here in January in South Carolina than it is in October.”

Also on Sunday morning, Rick Santorum sought to build on some recent momentum, including new support from conservative Christian groups, saying he will beat Mr. Romney for the Republican nomination once all the other candidates drop out. Speaking on Fox News Sunday and CBS’s Face the Nation, Mr. Santorum said that he won’t drop out after South Carolina and said that race is all about whittling down the field to just him and Mr. Romney.

In a contest with just Mr. Romney, “I’d win,” Mr. Santorum said on Fox..

Mr. Santorum declined to ask his chief rivals for the conservative vote to drop out of the...

Come on, Perry - you have to know that polls - even your own internal ones - show that there’s no way in hell that you’re going to finish first or strong second.

So why stick in it at all? At this point, all you’re acting as is a spoiler to split votes away from the other non-Romneys in the race.

(Not that I’m thrilled with any of the non-Romneys - but at least they’re not Romney.)

Perry is staying in so we have a real conservative alternative with experience and actual executive record. All the rest are just talkers and wannabes.

Perry is banking on a third place finish in the Paint Creek Primary.

.

Rick Santorum needs to get out.

Has anybody taken a good look at his voting record?
Below is just some of the worst:

RICK SANTORUM

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=2&vote=00201

VOTED TO ALLOW ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS TO RECEIVE THE EARNED INCOME CREDIT BEFORE BECOMING CITIZENS
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=2&vote=00154

VOTED TO GIVE SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=105&session=1&vote=00058

SANTORUM: TRIM SOCIAL SECURITY NOW- EVEN IF PAINFUL.http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5j7O34Bpp42k-IlMMNiOLBkYF2zNw?docId=b1cff9ecefe24ca6ae1764a09761e361

VOTED AGAINST HIRING AN ADDITIONAL 1,000 BORDER PATROL AGENTS, paid for by reductions in state grants.
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=1&vote=00179

VOTED AGAINST FOOD STAMP REFORM
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=1&vote=00353

VOTED AGAINST MEDICAID REFORM
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=1&vote=00352

VOTED TO INCREASE THE SOCIAL SERVICES BLOCK GRANT FROM $1 BILLION to $2 BILLION
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=106&session=1&vote=00302

VOTED TO RAID SOCIAL SECURITY instead of using surpluses to pay down the debt.
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=106&session=2&vote=00056

VOTED TO IMPOSE A UNIFORM FEDERAL MANDATE ON STATES TO FORCE THEM TO ALLOW CONVICTED RAPISTS, ARSONISTS, DRUG KINGPINS AND ALL OTHER EX-CONVICTS TO VOTE IN FEDERAL ELECTIONS.
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=107&session=2&vote=00031

It’s going to be Romney or Newt or by a slim chance, Santorum.

VOTED AGAINST INCREASING THE NUMBER OF IMMIGRATION INVESTIGATORS?
VOTED TO GIVE WELFARE BENEFITS TO NATURALIZED CITIZENS?
VOTED AGAINST HIRING AN ADDITIONAL 1,000 BORDER PATROL AGENTS?
VOTED AGAINST FOOD STAMP REFORM?
VOTED AGAINST MEDICAID REFORM?

People NEED to know this about Santorum’s voting record.

He has not been vetted.

Mozilo's Countrywide had been the first to embrace the homeownership push back in 1995 and had therefore become
a central player in Clinton's public-private partnership.

And since 1998, Countrywide had also become crucial to the fortunes of Fannie Mae, and the personal wealth of Fannie employees who received special mortgage deals from the lender...
