New ads against Romney/for Gingrich

Via Matt Lewis. In fairness, the dog story is just one part of this lowlight reel of some of Romney’s dumber moments from the trail, but the clip’s revealing in how it shows Gingrich still relying heavily on his debate performances as a selling point. The message here, implicitly, is “Mitt could self-destruct in front of a mic in the general but I won’t.” Which is mighty ironic given that (a) none of these allegedly damaging gaffes dissuaded voters in Iowa or New Hampshire, (b) Gingrich himself is infamously prone to self-destructive stumbles, as his “right-wing social engineering” comment over the summer proved, and (c) unlike Newt, Romney hasn’t said anything so toxic that Rush Limbaugh felt moved to compare him to Elizabeth Warren because of it. (Note too that the clip begins with Romney’s line about how he likes being able to fire people, which even Gingrich himself conceded was taken out of context.) Beyond all that, I’m not sure why anyone thinks the presidential debates in the fall are likely to be game-changers. They almost never are — I honestly can’t remember a single moment from Obama’s debates with McCain — and in any case, Romney being Romney, he’ll prepare for them hyper-exhaustively. Look on the bright side: This October, at least you won’t have to worry about the nominee ripping on corporate “looters” or parasites or whatever Newt’s current anti-Bain soundbite is. Said one “longtime ally” of Gingrich today to National Journal, “The sense is, he’s just lashing out. His friends aren’t trying to talk him off the ledge.” Two clips here, one of the lowlight reel and the other of a second new Gingrich ad slamming Romney on abortion. (Romney’s campaign, which is preparing to hammer Newt in South Carolina too, is ready with a counter to this attack.) Question: Am I to assume from the relative silenc

Like the ads. I live in MA and don't want Romney to be the nominee! Hope the South tears him asunder.

The more Newt rips this nitwit Romney butt the more mistakes and the truth will come out that Romney is King Obama lite.

The corrections that Romney did at Bain is not the same course of action that Government should even try. Doesn't the action resemble tarp? We have experienced that with the bailouts to save companies and lost billions with still sour companies.

Obama will win the South if Romney is the nominee. Obama almost almost won (and did win VA and NC)against McCain, but McCain at least had Christianity and military service going for him. The South is conservative, but has a LOT of black people. Romney will not energize the white, Southern, Christian conservative vote to overcome Obama and the black vote down South.

Where will Romney pick up electoral votes to make up for losses in VA, NC, SC, AR, GA, AL, FL and MS? He might be able to pick up Nevada and make a game of it in Michigan, but that isn’t nearly enough. We are looking at a landslide loss, way worst than McCain.

I’m less concerned about Mitt’s debating skills than I am about him being a dulicitous fraud, the quintessential type of imposter who has bamboozled Republicans for decades leading to the imminent destruction we now face.

I have plugged my nose since Reagan left office - but NEVER AGAIN. If Mitt is the nominee, 3rd party for me it will be. That will be a first for me and I must say I am at peace.

Anyone who can look at this man’s record and the incessant lies that proceed from his mouth - yet still support him - has a serious character flaw. http://youtu.be/BI9yjhd8b84

“Beyond all that, I’m not sure why anyone thinks the presidential debates in the fall are likely to be game-changers. They almost never are”

Oh Yeah? Try these, you and others may remember these:

Reagan: “Ask yourself, ‘Are you better off now than you were four years ago? Is it easier for you to go and buy things in the stores than it was four years ago? Is there more or less unemployment in the country than there was four years ago? Is America as respected throughout the world as it was?”

Reagan: “There you go again.”

Reagan said:

“I want you to know also I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.”

Bentsen: Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy, I knew Jack Kennedy, Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy.

Not to mention George H.W. Bush just glancing at his watch!

I would say you are categorically WRONG! They may not decide an election in and of themselves, but having a great influence, is undeniable.

I haven’t heard Rush in a year so I wasn’t aware that he supports Romney (if he is).

I really feel saddened for this nation when I hear such things about people who I used to greatly admire. Just like when the herd of sheep were lining up to be slaughtered during Obama’s reception to false godhood, with Greek temple and all, I fell exactly the same way now about the GOP.

It’s like being in a horror movie, call it Invasion of the Brain Snatchers. I said exactly the same thing in 08. It is like watching Lucifer himself at work, deluding the ignorant sheep as they blithely walk to their death despite all of the evidence any rational person can plainly see. In this case it is the GOP’s death and possibly America’s death.

We will continue to speak the obvious truth and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should we the people, of fixed principles, compromise our integrity by supporting or voting for someone so ignoble of character.

[(if he is).]

Those were the actual words he used with he was gushing over A Romney speech.

I doubt Rush is endorsing Romney. Rush agreed with a couple of soundbites on his show of a Romney speech when he said the right things.

Well, one thing I learned listening to Rush is that he doesn’t “officially” endorse but he might as well as his daily monologues are very clear without him specifically saying “I endorse Mitt Romney”.

It would be a way for a popular host to exert his will without totally offending the sensiblites of a significant portion of his audience.

As we see here, we’re still offended and understand where a host stands but it assuages the potential uproar somewhat.

My previous opinion is based upon what I heard from Rush in the 2008 primaries. I don’t want to contradict myself as I indictaed that I have not listened to Rush this past year due to schedule.

Really? How did that election pan out? did Bentsen win?
