Yes but at one time we were the China of the world. It is all just a cycle. Just before and after our revolutionary war, we were the discount builder and manufacturer.
Then came the other countries, with the near recent Japan, Korea, etc "cheap" "discount" "junk" stages. Our advantage has "for the last 50 or so years been our technological prowess. But the point is that it is all a cycle. Nothing new here.
Move along, move along?

What we really need to worry about is how many here have too much time on their hands.
We have a whole generation of busy bodies and non-producers who devote scores of hours and energy to 'green science", peace keeping, and pet rights instead of getting out and making or developing things and systems we can make money with.
The song "to much time on my hands" really does apply to way to many folks on our shores and THAT will be our downfall. Not how cheaply someone else packs a box or wires a circuit. Once that was us when we were growing cotton, growing wheat, making steel etc.
Been there done that as they say. It is all just a cycle and not out turn or place to be there right now. Not our spot in the cycle any more. We also have a standard of living that is still worlds above the rest of the world all because of our fore-fathers efforts.
