On Wednesday morning, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told radio talk show host Laura Ingraham he could "absolutely" see himself teaming up with former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum to beat Mitt Romney.
"Of course," Gingrich said. "Rick and I have a 20-year friendship. We were both rebels, we both came into this business as reformers, we both dislike deeply the degree to which the establishment sells out the American people. We both think Washington has to be changed in very fundamental ways, and we have lots of things that fit together. And the thing thats interesting is if you take the votes, you add to that Perry and Bachmann, you begin to see the size of the conservative vote compared to Romney
if you take, you know, Santorum and Perry and Bachmann and Gingrich you get some sense of what a small minority Romney really represents.."

It’s about time the other candidates went after the back-stabbing, cowardly liberal-playing-conservative, obama-lite-lying buttorifice!
A great reason to run for President, Newt. Stay in the race soley because of your thin skin. The guy is so angry and bitter about his record being exposed.
Drop out and endorse Santorum.
I’m still narrowing down my list. Anyone know which candidate(s) give Chris Matthews a thrill up his leg?
Since this is the Presidential race is Perry and Gingrich will leave the race and become vice presidents?
I think that the candidates are fully aware how anti-conservative the GOP elite really are and they have to begin to play as a team, even though it means only 1 of them can go forward in order to beat the enemy within. ROmney is clearly NOT a conservative, so the 75% who don’t want Mitt ROmney as the R candidate had better start sending money to Gingrich, Santorum, et al in order to offset the money machine that Romney has.
Newt is the guy that should be debating Obama. Santorum makes more sense in the V.P. slot.
How about both Newt and Santorum declare that whichever one of them has more delegates after the next few states, the other will be their V.P.? Then the voters can decide who sits at the top of the ticket.
I caught a little of a panel with mad cow, crissy, and sharpie and they were impressed with Santorum. They said, Romney seemed plasticy.
Reverse psycology?
You mean Santorum/Gingrich, right? Gingrich “lost” last night.
I don't think there is any ideological love or connection between Perry and Romney.
A ticket with no Governors on it is a bad idea. That’s why I think Perry would be the best for the VP slot.
I like Newt’s anger and bitterness. It suits me just fine.
I’m pretty angry and bitter at the ESTABLISHMENT. FINALLY, some push back, and as I said a thousand times already, if Newt ever decides to stand up on his hind legs and roar, he could quake the ESTABLISHMENT and can decimate Obama in a debate. Newt rolled them in 1994 and they fear a re-do.
Sweet justice.
Let ‘em have it, Newt.
Rush Limbaugh is saying Newt is going to “define” Romney big time now and it will benefit Santorum. Rush also said there are all kinds of efforts out there now to paint Santorum as a big govt. guy. Rush said “big govt.” means welfare, high taxes, etc.. and Santorum is for low taxes and jobs so don’t fall for it.
Perry supported both Gore and Giuliani in the past.
I agree with you. Newt has been taking a punch from all sides. Let him roar all he wants. Also, a certain pundant has been calling him a “Progressive” but Rush Limbaugh just called him a conservative today.
Newt LEADS in Florida though, and South Carolina is his back yard. Romney has already started negative ads against Newt in Florida, so Newt’s Super PAC is going to go all out against Romney, be damn the torpedos. With a little help from the Santorum and Perry campaigns Romney will, at last, FINALLY, get a punch in the nose himself! His PAC has swamped our guys, allowing him to pick them off one at a time. It is time for an alliance between the non-Romneys.
“I don’t think there is any ideological love or connection between Perry and Romney.”
You beat me.
Lol!
“Santorum makes more sense in the V.P. slot.”
I’d be happy either way. But I think the Good Cop (Santorum) and Bad Cop (Gingrich) could be magic for our country right now.
I thought Cheney was marvelous as VP. I think Newt could be more effective in the second banana role, and leave the diplomacy to Santorum.
