Running XP. Installed Netgear wireless card WPN 311. System indicates signal strength from my home network as "excellent."
Problem: will not connect to the network. Says "cannot acquire network address." How can I make the connection and make it stay?
Tried "other features" from the XP disk, got error message: "already installed in computer." Tried for about two hours using every set-up wizard. No go.
Thanks.

Post #6--I answered the original question, which was about networking. Another poster asked a non-related question to me, specifically. I gave my answer.
Do you always post before reading through the thread?

Success! The problem was the driver the shop installed. It was v1.0. When I found v2.0 on line and installed it on a guess, it began to work flawlessly.
Thank you all for your suggestions and support. Freepers rock!

You're right.
I did not notice your original answer before I posted.
I apologize.

Netgear’s 800 number help desk is quite good.
