Tourists go to Egypt in droves to see the ancient ruins and relics and they bring a lot of cash with them. Every Egyptian knows this is one of their main income producers.
I suspect that the average Egyptian also retains a certain pride in the ancient tradtions of Egyptian civilization which will mitigate against the excesses of the radical Islamists to a great extent.
